I've been using this huge cooler bag for the gym, since I wanted something big enough to put everything in. I go to the gym straight after work, so my outfit, tennis shoes, walking sandals in summer, gel seat for bike, water bottle, and wallet all have to fit. Its a beast to stuff into the locker though!
I also have a seperate smaller pool bag for the days I swim-but I found out last night it wasn't big enough to stuff my work clothes + two wet towels to carry home :(
Both those bags live in my car, so I have no good excuse to not work out!

I have a few but my fave is one from Marika. They call it a yoga bag. I found it at Winners 2 years ago. Fits loads and can double for travel. Because it is a tote - which can fold over- it fits in the gym lockers.

I use a black leather backpack from Ash. It’s starting to fade now from years of sun exposure but I still really like the look of it. It’s just big enough for my gear (with a little cramming).

I go to a Yoga Studio that has cubbies. I generally don't use a gym bag. I do have a gym bag from the early 90s that is rust and black and is made from some sort of sturdy fabric (obviously). I love that bag and use it for traveling.
I have thought of getting a smaller bag to carry around Yoga things like water bottles, etc but so far haven't. Mr SF uses a backpack. I leave a mat at the Yoga Studio.

No gym for me, but during the winter DS and I swim at the pool about once a week. I hung onto some zippered "wet bags" from our cloth diapering days and use those to transport wet swimsuits and towels. I just stuff them in whatever tote bag or backpack I'm carrying that day. Oh -- and I like to use thin cotton Turkish towels for pool days (and beach days!) because they are so low-bulk compared to terry towels.

Oooh. I like the one Lisa showed. But it wouldn't fit in the lockers at my gym.

I'm lucky in that I live really close to my gym and shower at home rather than there. So I just take my old Zara faux-leather knapsack. It fits my water bottle, indoor shoes/socks/ change of clothes (if I wear or bring one) and wallet etc. should I need that. Plus, it's waterproof.

Sometimes I have also used my La Pliage.

My gym has no lockers; only open cubbies. My DD gave me a roomy handbag that she was getting rid of (never used) and I am able to carry a hand towel, my lifting gloves, head band, bottle of water and that is all I need (I carry my protein shake container in my hand) I live close by so I don't need to change my clothes at the gym, luckily.

I have the exact same problem. Backpack too small for everything especially in winter, and the duffel that everything fits into is either too big for locker or too heavy since I put EVERYTHING in that I could possibly need.

Don't go to gym, but LOVE my yoga studio. No need to schlep anything but my citron yoga mat. Take layers and shoes off inside and shove it all into a cubby hole.

My bag us the same backpack I use for cycling to work. It's too big to fit in my gym locker so I leave it out and just put valuables and shoes in the locker. My gym is just for people in the building and the security risk isn't high.

I just have a slouchy fabric bag that I use. It fits everything but doesn't look very nice and is kind of hard to put things in because it is so slouchy. But it works for now.

What do you use to schlep your stuff too and from the gym? Are you happy with it? Could it be better?

Below are photos of my gym bags and the usual items I carry. I used to carry the smaller bag (in #1) all the time. It is perfect for swimming and fits easily in a locker, but it never fit a full complement of regular stuff so I couldn't zip it and my stuff spilled over the top. I use a bigger bag (#2) for the regular gym stuff now, but I have to fold, bend, squish, and shove to get it in the locker - and worry it might snag or become abraided. It accepts a full complement of gear - and when I choose to wear my gear to the gym, it accepts a change of clothes and a pair of shoes.

Until gyms start making wider lockers, a perfect gym bag is a very elusive HEWI!
