Marianna and FiestyWife--- you both rock! You would definitely have two new customers (me, who is trying to build a wardrobe of basics for fall/winter, and my mother, who is plus-sized, tall, and generally lets me pick out all of her clothes within reason because she hates to shop).

I could definitely see myself frequenting some of the other stores as well, particularly the book shops. I love tea, but unfortunately its diuretic effects are bad for those with low BP!

ok, so my store of basics would all be machine washable and come in every size shoe made.

Marianna-- I think you should include 10.5 in your specialty shoe store. So many brands don't make a 10.5, and many shoe stores don't stock them even if they stock 10s and 11s. My mother wears a 10.5 and it is so difficult to find her shoes!

I don't think I would ever want to run a store, but I would cater any store that sold shoes for high arches, tall sizes (particularly in tops and coats and dresses and skirts, since many retailers now offer tall pants), and machine washable clothes. I get really sick of so many items being dry clean-- even casual clothes! I am not supposed to dry clean anything, but can get by if it is an item that will only have to be cleaned once or twice a year (coats, special occasion items) and then can be aired out for a long period before wearing. The chemicals and fumes make me sick! Now, it could also sell books and jewelry and art supplies and I wouldn't complain!

This is actually a real dream of mine: I'd love to open a large size shoe boutique. I'd carry only shoes in sizes 11+ and the atmosphere would be ritzy and intimate. I'm sick of only shopping online for my shoes!

I'd also open a store/cafe for my mom so she could sell all her yummy homemade Russian food.

I would open a store that only sells shirts that are short and fitted enough to go with skirts. Next door would be a store full of narrow calf boots: Boots of all kinds meant for women with 10-14 inchers.

Across the street, I would open a store that sells all kinds of specialty teas. I would travel all over the world to pick the pearliest tea leaves and import them to my shop, alongside assorted biscuits and of course cupcakes.

I'm coming to shop at the little YLF gathering of charming shops ... just say when and where!

My fav items to buy are books and boots. Maybe I can join in with Inge, if she doesn't mind stocking a fab selection of the best boots in the world.

I'd love to combine Inge's bookstore and Steffie's retro tea room for my perfect store. Dog friendly, of course.

I'm not sure that this is my dream store exactly, but I'd love to have a store that TRULY carries a wide range of bra sizes AND price points - not just at the large cup/small band range, but vice versa as well, and has expert "fitters" who don't merely measure you, but teach you to recognize what perfect fit looks and feels like.

I'd also like a store that carries a wide range of boot sizes with flat or sensible heel heights, particularly offering a variety of narrow and wide calf sizes with listed measurements.

Come to think of it, my perfect store might include all of the above, as well as a fantastic accessories department with necklaces and scarves galore.

Hmm, what a fun question!

I think my store would be an old-fashioned tea room, with gluten free goodies. (Good ones!) Yum yum yum!

And my tea room would have a little annex filled with modern-classic, slightly retro (1950-1960s), and a touch whimsical items of clothing that are fabulous in fit, design and quality. And we'd sell jeans called "The Deadlift" for girls with big muscle-y bottoms and little waists!

I'm shopping at Inge's pearl jewelry store. FOR SURE.

I'd have a shop which specializes in tea and chocolate cake. That would be next to my store which specializes in biscuits and bags. I'll leave the cheese shop to the French and Dutch.

I'd totally shop there, FW, because I'm in the same boat!

I'd love to open a store where you could build your own jeans. You'd come in and have your body scanned, and once all your measurements were in the computer, you could create your own jeans however you'd like them from the fabric, length, rise, pocket style, leg width, etc.

Can you tell I've always had a problem finding jeans?

Or maybe a store for women who happen to be short and pear-shaped and need wide calved boots!

Hm, I think I'd need at least a few different stores, unless there's a way to combine them all into one without everything looking like a total mess;-)

- a bookstore where home-made goodies are served (a bit of a cliché, I know), ideally not with the bestsellers you see everywhere, but with a well curated selection of interesting and beautiful books
- a jewellery store specializing in pearl jewellery (more minimalist, sleek and unique looking pearl necklaces e.g. are hard to find, especially over here, so I'd love to offer an amazing array of different styles)
- a scarf boutique, oh just imagine!!!

If you could open up/shop in any kind of store what would it be? What would you sell or buy?

At the moment my store would be one that specializes in the basics with a few on trend items. Think loads of jeans in all styles & colors (well, the flattering ones) so every woman could find that perfect pair. Office basics, like buttons downs, slacks, skirts, jackets & dresses in solid neutrals (black, gray, navy, creamish & a few colors for the button downs). A few styles of cardigans; neutral, basic purses & shoes. I think you get the picture. I think you can also tell where I am in the wardrobe building cycle!!!
