I would suggest a dark neutral and a light one...a bottom piece ( pants and/or a skirt) and top (sleeve length can be long or short or one of each to extend the season.). You could wear one of your cardigans or jacket as a topper. Dark neutrals could be black, dark brown, charcoal grey or navy or even olive or burgundy. Light neutrals can be useful if you want to add pastels or brights. They could be a shade of white, pale grey, tan, or blush. You can go on to add a scarf or jewelry, bag and shoes in neutrals or colors. Don't forget metallics.
