Well it is winter here but I'll say in anyway.
I had a very restrained shopping winter and bought in total 1 pair of boots, 1 "sweater" a cardi, waistcoat and some pants.
Most worn are as featured in this picture.
http://i297.photobucket.com/al.....0_7011.jpg

I love my black boots and have worn them at least once a week. The red turtle neck sweater which has a zip in the collar so it can also be worn differently is wonderful and if I could I would replicate it in other colours. But I can't, because I got it from an op (thrift) shop. Still a bargain for $4!

I realize that I haven't shopped much this summer. And that is good. My hands down favorite would be my white ATL vest which I wear all the time.

Maya, you look great in that top! I can see why it is a favorite.

My arms are not slender, but I like the flutter sleeves because they make my bust look smaller. I dislike (on me) when my boobs curve out beyond the shoulder. I would wear cap sleeves too except for the ones with pesky elastic.

Agrace: The pants were from Club Monaco.

Elpgal: I'm afraid I can't say where the top was originally sold since I got it from Marshall's. I also don't know how much you'll like those flutter sleeves. I know most people here aren't a fan, but I can pull them off since I have skinny arms. The brand is Matty M. I would think any banded top would have the same effect though.

My most-worn summer buys were:

my pool dresses and tote
Target knit dresses for weekends
Alfani black cotton dress
walking shorts in khaki, black and white
black wedge peeptoes from ATL
red-orange sleeveless dress from BR

now ask me what I didn't wear this summer. Mostly a number of tops that never seemed to work. Maybe next summer!

Check out Old Navy's light black/ grey skinny jeans. I'm eyeing them bc they are only $19 right now and I think these will be cute this fall and winter. May not be the color you were looking for though! oh, and where did you find $9 micro check pants?

-Black flutter sleeve banded top. It is perfect for me in every way. Minimizes the bust, drapes over the tum, with all the emphasis on my arms and shoulders.

-Short sleeve white jacket from H&M. Perfection for summer interviews (not that I have been getting any). I wear it with a giant cream colored flower pin.

-Micro check pants. I love dressing these down with cons and somehow I just find them more comfortable in the summer than jeans, but I know they will work all year round. Can't be beat for $9.

-Glasses. This is not summery specifically, but definitely the highlight of the season.

-Stirrup leggings. Again, not really a summer thing (too clingy for the humidity), but I bought them in summer and have already found many ways to wear them.

-White cross body bag. The hands-free-ness of this bag is so liberating.

-Of course the Brulees. They made my summer a lot less painful than it usually is.

Oooh, denim dye on light bags is a killer. I once used a yellow Kooba bag and sadly the bottom of the bag became so blue from my jeans. It was a huge inconvenience and disappointment! Maybe that's where my fear of light colored bags comes from!

It's interesting to see so many shoes on the lists! Other than the KC wedges, I didn't buy any new summer shoes. But I am itching to buy some pumps for fall...

Marianna: first and foremost, I'm very careful with the white bags, and try not to set them on the ground etc. But yeah, they need care and attention. I have leather cleaner (from the Coach store) that works beautifully. Although I did recently get something blue on the bigger bag, and I fear it's denim dye. I have yet to try to clean it off - thanks for the reminder!

The white denim jacket is much more tricky, to be honest. Especially if I put it on after a day at the beach, when I have sunscreen all over me. And if I bring it in the car for later, I put it in a bag to protect it. But I do need to toss it in the wash soon. I suspect it can be washed no problem.

A black and white dress
An elbow-length-slleeved, patterned cardigan that I wear with black or white clams and a white cami
Denim clams
My pewter Kenneth Cole wedges. They took ages to find, but were absolutely worth it.
My first strand of gumball pearls. I now wear them all the time and get loads of complements each time.

It's a great idea to reflect on what worked best for you in a season! I think my best buys were:

-dark, smart denim; one for flats, one for heels.
-three sleeveless, dressy cotton or silk tops
-two cardigans for covering up indoors
-two pencil skirts! A first for me!

I still need to get some shoes and some better sun glasses as well!

Shiny, how are you keeping your white bags white? I have a feeling if I had a white purse I'd get pen marks and all sorts of dirt on it ASAP!

I'm still new to YLF, but since getting involved I have made a few purchases that I *love* and that are totally out of my comfort zone.

- My Michael by Michael Kors mod dress that I wear with leggings and got a "killer" rating on.

- Linea Paolo 'Fae' flat from NAS. I bought these in two colors and am getting a third because they are SO comfortable and adorable... a combination that I have never found in my life. I've been wearing them ever since I bought them and get tons of compliments and my feet are always happy, even after 12 hours on my feet at work. GREAT purchase.

Mine would be the pleather jacket that Angie picked out for me in Seattle:

It has the funky retro chic look I love! I get tons of compliments on it.

The other would be my pewter Sam Edelman gladiators:
http://i617.photobucket.com/al.....010056.jpg

Mine would be my 2 pairs of AT bremuda shorts (olive green & black). I reach for them almost daily for casual but will pair with heels to go out at night!

What I'm finding is that I am only reaching for my shorter ATL shorts on very scorching days where there's almost a gear type event as I don't feel near as comfortable in the shorter length. This was an interesting epiphany for me.

The other thing would be my Dolce Vita snake flats, these were probably purchased in Spring but I really didn't start wearing them all the time until this summer. Not sure why but we've has an unusually cool summer here so that could be why.

At the end of every season, I like to look at what I haven't worn in my closet, and challenge myself to wear it at least once - or concede it shouldn't be in my closet, and give it away. However, this summer, I've worn every last thing (that I don't have packed away because it temporarily doesn't fit, that is). I guess that is a sign I'm making progress - thank you Angie and YLF!!!

So instead, I'm analyzing what new items I purchased that turned out to be fabulous buys. The items that I got the most wear out of, that breathed new life into my wardrobe, that could be styled many different ways, that I reached for again and again.

These items stand out:

1) ATL white denim jacket.

2) ATL black ponte knit sheath

3) White purse - this one: http://s386.photobucket.com/al.....sit007.jpg

4) White clutch - this one: http://s386.photobucket.com/al.....uly024.jpg

(If you wonder why I don't list the banana bag, that's because it was a spring purchase! It would make my list if I had done this for the spring)

Okay... your turn!! To play, you can only include items you purchased this year - no older items that are already tried and true. But you can include an item you bought last year, perhaps on end-of-season sale, but did not get around to wearing until this year - make sense?
