I also teach 8th graders and enjoy their complements. I always have them do an end of the year evaluation of the class with suggestions for improvement, and one of the girls told me one of the positive things was I always did "good" with my outfits everyday! My 11 year old will sometimes offer suggestions on color or fit (Ha-ha!), my 9 year old tends to like everything I wear and my 6 year old girl likes to rub my legs if I'm wearing tights or leggings. I also work in a K-8 school. For me, it's my jr. high students more than the younger girls. "I like what you're wearing today." "Mrs. C you look nice." "I love your shoes." Those are all great greetings as my students come in for class. Honestly, I'll take any connection to them as I can get, even if it's a love of shoes.
