I like your hair both with and without the fringe. I think that it depends on the style you're going for. I feel like the no-fringe version is more elegant, while the fringe version is more youthful and casual. I would give yourself some time to adjust to the fringe, and then see how you feel about going forward. It's fun to experiment. I think that that's the only way to find our true selves--get our hands dirty.

As for changing my style, I didn't really have one before I came to YLF. But I had decided that I wanted to enjoy being feminine and wearing some nice clothes for a change. (I had been wearing sloppily fitting casuals.) So I just started at some cheaper online retailers and ordered a variety of things that struck my eye. I didn't worry too much about what kind of style I was going to create; I just let my initial reactions drive things. I picked a few items and wore them for a while, after which time my tastes started to change. So then I went back online until I found a new style I liked, and I started all over. Eventually I noticed that certain themes started coming back over and over, and those became my more permanent styles.

I agree with rachylou that you look a little like YLFer viva. She has great style by the way and could be an inspiration if you like her direction (hope viva doesn't mind me saying that).
Just recognizing that you want to make changes is the kickstart I think most of us need.

If you wear jeans a lot, try to choose them as carefully as possible. I'd ask some questions such as: Do you like heavy weight or light weight denim?, do you like light wash or dark wash?, do you like a higher rise or lower rise? (lots of discussions here on YLF about rise of pants in the past). Do you like the new cropped style or do you prefer a regular length? Then try on lots of jeans. I say this because I wear jeans SO often and have made too many mistakes in the past, *thinking* I had the right pair and even ordering a duplicate, only to realize I hadn't really considered all my wants and needs. I recommend one of Angie's recommendation of KUT from the Kloth jeans as a mid-range option that is high in quality and offers many styles.

For this moment in time, I think no fringe or a smooth sideswept fringe. But you look good with a fringe(!)

I think what got me was the babies, lol. Didn't think they were the same babies...but then I doubted myself about that, lolol! Magic babies that stay babies for 18 yrs!

Thanks for the advise Sally. I'm going to keep it simple for now and just add pieces I need as I can afford them. Started with a coat, next on list will be flat boots for running around in then some jeans and go from there hoping it will be easy to work from there

I like both the fringe and the style with no fringe. I think you can do either.

I think the first two photos are fine - they are very candid family pics, but you look relaxed and happy (and not 18 years older).

It sounds like you do want a style change though, YLF is great for seeing women with different lifestyles, climates and body shapes trying out new looks. I have learnt a lot - there are plenty of people whose style I absolutely love but it is not suited for me - and others who are very similar in their tastes and styles.

Often you don't need lots of new items for a refresh, it could be as simple as three tops and two bottoms and one pair of shoes.

I certainly remember seeing some holiday snaps of me a few years back and realising my hair was in desperate need of a refresh and change!!

Sorry I'm not great at explaining myself the first set of photos are 18 years apart the one with the baby asleep is last week after hair cut but tied up. The second set of photos are no more then a month old one with make up and no fringe is before hair cut a few weeks ago the other is messing around last week after a shower with current hair down. I'm thinking it's better without a fringe??? Would welcome others opinions or ideas on whole new style to try

Ok... I'm maybe confused by the babies and your hair down as to time...but I very much like your hair down and smooth. I don't think I'd recognize you as the same person as in the first set of pics. Also, you know, you remind me a lot of YLFer Viva...

A good place to start is with a fresh hairstyle and a bra fitting. Once those are sorted, it's more fun trying new things on!

These photos were taken 18 years apart. I had not even noticed I pretty much got stuck in a rut until I found the box of old photos same bad hair, black jumper. I'm always saying I want to change but something comes up and it's put of but I think these photos are the kick I needed. Is there anything that made you change your style and if so how did you start?
