Michelle - thank- you ( I gave you a "boost" - not sure if you can read those)

IK - interesting. I'd say mine was highly edited too!

Nicoleb - yes that would have been fine ( and I did say that last time). We are good friends though, and I guess I felt it was okay to elaborate a little

Suz - you have hit the nail on the head I think. She was a little wistful. She is losing weight spectacularly herself at the moment, but still feels she can't fit into certain shops clothes, or certain styles that she feels I can! I don't think she is closest confused though - she is great at decluttering and organising and was an interior designer, so her aesthetic sense is good.
And I am in a rare position of being able to still wear (as I wore today) a dress I had bought in 1999! Certainly helps with the budget.

The comment did make me think more broadly, since I posted above, than my friend would have intended. While I do think I restrict myself a good bit more than many on YLF (no patterned pants for me!) and have those fussy feet/short leg issues you know all about, I do think that Angie's encouraging has led me to try a greater range of styles than I otherwise would have - eg skinnies, belting and voluminous tops for a start. And I do appreciate that.

Anne, I think you have worked so hard at getting fit in BOTH ways (physically, and in editing and building your wardrobe) that your friend might be feeling a bit wistful, especially if she has a different body type (you know how the grass is always greener?) and/or if she is facing closet confusion.

As for telling or not telling friends...I DO tell. Or, to be fair, my family tells for me! They are always joking around and with several friends (when they complimented me) my daughter or husband have piped up and said, "It's all because of You Look Fab!" which of course has started a conversation. At first I felt a bit embarrassed but I have learned to go along with it and now I spread the word myself. I figure any place that has been this good for me might be good for my fashion challenged friends, too!

Yay for a nice compliment! I think next time you should just say, "Thank you!".

I have a very glam friend I thought could wear anything, when she told me she actually could not wear much - it's just that what she wore was extremely highly edited. She even showed me her closet. I wish I had that kind of discipline!

It sure is a complement!! And a sign that you've really mastered your own style and wear your chosen clothes with confidence. Go you!

This is only the second time in my life anyone has said this to me, and the friend who said it today has commented before that I can wear things she feels she can't (the 2 items being voluminous tops and shoestring straps, to be precise)

I told her that in fact there were many things I didn't look good in and had to pick within a certain range (didn't tell her about YLF, I am a "don't want those worlds colliding" sort of girl)
It was a bit funny to hear. I feel myself that I can so easily veer into frumpiness that it is quite far from the truth - but I think it is a compliment and indirectly one to Angie and the forum too. So I am passing it on to you.
