Ha! I opened this looking for tips. I don't have much patience for Yoox - it is mainly a resource for validating odd Italian brands that I find thrifting. I love things people find there, but I would have to be in their warehouse to find anything myself!

Well, I'm glad to know I'm not alone! I also find myself at a loss for descriptors when searching for certain items, like the extra long sleeved styles I posted in another thread. "Post-apocalyptic cabin loungewear" or "starving artist in a garret goes to the office" don't bring up a whole lot of options!

Yeah, I don't think you can search on Yoox. You can only get really good at browsing filtered categories.

I've only ordered from them once, but I did find a pair of shoes that I love (after breaking them in). Maybe I'll take another look-see.

I use Yoox frequently. I agree that the search function is very limited. So like UmmLila, I narrow by size and color first to give me somewhat fewer options to look through. Then I just figure that I'm "learning" something about style as I scroll though lots of items. This has lead to being a bit more daring in what I buy. So I'm a Yoox fan, nonetheless, I'll look into Farfetch.

I mostly shop by brand on Yoox. And only when I have a lot of time to look.

Unfortunately I cannot help with Yoox, but I concur about Farfetch. They are AMAZING.

I was thrilled when I first found Yoox, but over time I found their site so frustrating and user-unfriendly, I abandoned it in favor of the much more customer-oriented sites like OUTNET, Gilt, Net-a-Porter and Hautelook. Even Farfetch, which sells merchandise from shops all over the world, seems to do a better job of helping potential customers find and receive their choices quickly. Have you tried them? I was looking for a silk scarf as a present for a well-dressed male friend, and Farfetch was the only place with the sort of thing I wanted. It was well displayed, and came beautifully wrapped from Europe in days.

I rarely start with Yoox, but I might find myself there after starting with ShopStyle or Polyvore. If I get to Yoox, my first narrowing term is always size, so I don't get carried away liking something that won't fit.

I know Shevia and others are experts at finding stuff on yoox.com. But I can't seem to narrow anything down! For instance, let's say I'm looking for a jacket with an asymmetric hem. Nothing at all comes up under "asymmetric". Or if I'm looking for something with "extended sleeves", what would I put into the search?

I know it's probably a no-brainer, but I feel overwhelmed and underskilled in the art of the search!
