Personally, I have both leather and PU boots and will wear my synthetic boots in the worst, wettest, and dirtiest of situations because they actually stay dry and are easy to wipe clean. They don't generally hold up as well, although with the discounted price that isn't as big an issue. I wore a pair of faux leather boots into the ground and was devastated that I couldn't find anything like them after they died, so they were well worth the money spent. I just realized that my foldover grey boots are pleather from Modcloth and I've never had a sweat issue with them. I was more concerned about quality and looks. It is good to know about everyone's concerns and will do some more research. My plastic boots have served me well in wet weather and slogging around at soccer and t-ball games. I am not against them, they can be practical at times. Consider them like rate motg gear.
