I learned about how I'll wear some of what I posted, by learning how I won't wear them. The Indy picture (cream sweater and olive cargos) I liked as is. The jeans were one of my outfit ideas when I bought the sweater. The brown tshirt I wore on metropolis day is part of that same capsule. So if I trade out the pants I think I up the happy factor. I thought the star wars outfit was kinda cute for the challenge but I felt a little costumey. I'd like the shirt with mid to light blue jeans.

Mostly it was difficult for me to fully participate in this challenge because I am working 6 days a week again in uniform. On my day off I had to get a biopsy. It was a rather challenging week for me. But I loved looking at everyone's outfits and Ornella your pictures and poses were so much fun. Thanks for adding a bright spot to my week with this challenge.

Thank you Ornella, for all the work you put in to create this tantalizing challenge and all your fun posts. And to Bella for the brilliant idea. I thoroughly enjoyed this challenge, and I'm glad I participated each day. I came up with outfits that I could and did wear all day, whether that day was spent at work, at home, or on mundane errands and appointments. (I went to the dentist on Star Wars day, and a dental assistant complimented me on my outfit.)

The challenge inspired me to wear things differently than I usually do. It acquainted me better with others here in the forum community; I like Jjsloane's use of the term kumbaya--funny and true!

Most unexpectedly for me, though, is that it inspired me in ways that my usual use of the blog and forum do not. That is, I am routinely blown away by people's outfits on the forum, by Angie's outfits on the blog, and I'm always coming away with all kinds of ideas about style.

But this challenge did more: it simultaneously moved me out of my head AND it did not send me to shopping sites to find those missing pieces that I need to achieve a certain new look. It made me work with what I HAVE, what I already own, and made me WEAR it, not just think about it. The challenge really got me to follow these two rules of Angie's: Wear (my) clothes and Have fun with fashion.

Thanks, Ornella and Bella! And thanks to the YLF community!

Well, first I would like tot hank you very much, Ornella, for all the hard work you have put into this! I have had a blast.

My lessons were along the line of Tracey's. It was nice having a starting point around to build the outfit for the day, while making the outfit would fit the lab dress code and weather was the less fun part. I was amazed by the creativity quotient of the forum, so many amazing interpretations.

My personal summary thread with photos is here, and below are some of the learnings...

0. Fill up the freezer before the PPC weeks, then enjoy the whole challenge guilt-free.

1. Inspiration can be found anywhere. The thought process behind the inspiration - intention and attention - make the outfit.

2. Little bit of LBD (and some pearls) goes a long, long way. Truly.

3. On that note - Compliments! Day 3 thread was bursting with reports of so many ladies saying they had number of compliments on the day. Coincidence?

4. Everyone looks stellar in black, white and red. How would we ever knew that without Vertigo?

5. I've gone from office to casual to some middle ground with very limited selection in the past year and I feel perfectly contended. I am at a very happy place with my wardrobe.

6. Fun is not overrated.

Kudos to you Ornella for the coordination (it was flawless) and all who participated in any way. The comments were uplifting and amusing. The outfits were inspiring and amazing.

WIW and a challenge of some sort, even just a 'copy cat' attempt has quickly become my favourite part of the YLF experience. I have learned so much by taking pictures of outfits and analyzing them. I am also enormously inspired by the creative, but RL outfits that the Fabbers put together.

This week was pretty safe for me, and I was able to do it all out of my own closet. That said, it also brought home the fact that there are some holes in my wardrobe that I need to address.

I want to get something a little safari...maybe a camp dress or cargo jacket, and I want to get something shiny and gold...maybe a sequinned top, or golden oxfords or a bag!

Thank you so much Ornella, for the work you put onto organizing this challenge. I hope you do another!

This is my first time participating in a challenge week, the first time I've ever gotten it together enough. I like to think I stretched beyond myself a bit. We'll see if I rubberband back :)

I think I've learned something about creating an impression of one thing with totally unlike building blocks. Diana's Breakfast at Tifany's comes to mind. Her all black top and pants and chain necklace for Audrey's LBD and pearls. The archetypal (didn't I say I was a pseudo-intellectual?) template/outline is there, but different color crayons to fill in. Lyn's Metropolis is another. Her little touches of colour in her outfit were so reminiscent to me of a tinted photo, she created the atmosphere of the age without, oh, creating a Frank Lloyd Wright mask for herself.

I don't know if I could do anything like, but it's a goal!

Oh, and it kills me, it really does, to have no weirdness in an outfit. Or to have it be severely restricted (a brocade suit and a fine gauge sweater may be a little "fashion forward," I don't know). My identity is tightly tied to my clothes. But it was fun to actually wear the brocade suit as a suit, good to take things out for a rare stroll.

My immediate self-challenge stemming from this exercise is to find a way to wear my pearl necklaces in a way that's more me (and less shady realtor).
Well I learned that when I go MIA from the forum for too long I miss out on fun stuff like this! The times I've participated in challenges I learned to find inspiration in just about anything and in the words of Tim Gunn to "make it work!" As a specatator to the many challenges that pop up in this fab community I learn that creativity knows no bounds. I thoroughly enjoy seeing all the different interpretations and executions of the artwork, color schemes, etc.

Thanks so much for taking the challenge organization on, Ornella. On a dreary week in which winter still held us in its grip, it was so much fun to participate, and it gave me a reason to smile every morning.

As always, I loved reading about others' inspirations and seeing all the iterations of a look. Some of the stories cracked me up (yours, today, for example, and JulieJohn's, and GP's) and some made me cry. And some made me smile, just for the joy of seeing new people posting. I love the way these challenges always seem to bring a few people out of lurking. YAY to the brave ones who posted outfits! I couldn't comment individually every single day, but I really enjoyed looking at what everybody came up with.

I haven't actually watched all the movies that this challenge was based on, so it was fun to read up on them and learn about them in preparation for the outfits. Even with the research, though, I was an emotional dresser -- in the end, I tended to go with the poster's mood and its lines or colours (or in one case, with what I "might have worn" when I went to the premier). And that is pretty typical of me. IRL, while I love to plan, I usually end up choosing based on the weather and what I will be doing that day.

I learned that it's still easier for me to put together a "smart casual" outfit or even a "business casual" outfit for one of these challenges than it is for me to come up with something that both relates to the picture, and is something I'd actually wear for my work-at-home life. In a way, that's just a reflection of reality. Putting together fantastic casual outfits is a heck of a lot more difficult than people recognize until they have to do it on a more regular basis.

I made a bargain with myself not to wear a "costume" on any day. In other words, even if I wasn't planning to wear it on the actual day in question (due to weather or obligations) it had to be an outfit I'd potentially wear. In the end, I did wear versions of all except the LBD (and I had an alternate for that) and today's outfit, which I promptly changed out of, after the photo. But it is an outfit I've worn at other times, so that felt fair.

Looking forward to reading everyone's thoughts - and thank you again, Ornella, fearless leader!

I learned that I really like having some place to start when planning an outfit and using inspirations gets my creative juices flowing... For someone who uses style as an artistic expression this is extremely helpful..

I also learned that everyone is unique and sees things so differently which also sparks more creativity.

I also learned what an amazing group is on this forum from Ornella whose hard work made this possible, to the participates and those commenters who took the time and effort to post individualized responses. As someone with ADD I find that so amazing!

Thanks again to everyone who made this so special!

What Una said! This was incredibly fun from day 1, and I discovered that even a smaller wardrobe like mine can come up with quite different looks, but still me. Thank you, Ornella, for everything you did - including being the funniest person in the forum this week.

What I've learned is that I really enjoy these challenges, once I get into the swing of them! And also that they are obviously a ton of work for the originator. And that I have lots of stuff in my closet to get creative with and enjoy. THANK YOU!
