I didn't even SEE the black, which would have been so easy for me to do.</p> <p>Finally i decided to focus on the stripes, which appealed to me. I started with green striped socks and paired them with this rather hectic plaid in the pants (I should have done a close-up.) Then a teal sweater that sort-of matches one of the colours in the plaid. Finished off with a William Morris scarf to bring in some curved lines.</p> <p>Bella, this has been fun, thanks for starting it. I only missed day 4; I had an outfit in mind but wasn't right for the ER. I used the lady on the left as my model. She has a red/orange top, blue pants/skirt, and a patterned topper with a white and blue wavy lines. I substituted my &nbsp;black and white color block cardi because it reminded me of her topper but is using the blocky shapes and colors from the right side of the painting. The buttons are reminiscent of the nudity shown. This is the first time I've worn this combo, we are going for lunch in town, and I think it works and will wear it again. She was a femme fatale and wore black and was an accomplished photographer and artist. It seemed that Picasso loved women, but also treated them badly, having many mistresses who were increasingly much younger than himself. Two of his lovers (not Dora, but she did suffer depression at the end of their affair) committed suicide.</p> <p>In the picture I popped on some of my highest heels but quickly realised that I would have less than happy feet and swapped to some boots for comfort.</p> <p>After wearing two pretty outfits, it was fun to enjoy this dramatic and graphic ensemble.</p> <p><b>Bella</b> thank you for organising this challenge. From wikipedia:&nbsp;</p> <p>In December 1954, Picasso began to paint a series of free variations on Delacroix's <i>The Women of Algiers in their Apartment (Les Femmes d'Alger)</i>. He began his first version (cat. 19) six weeks after learning of the death of his lifelong friend and rival <a rel="nofollow" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henri_Matisse">Henri Matiss</a>e—and so, for Picasso, the "oriental" subject of this series of paintings held strong associations with Matisse as well as with Delacroix.
