The jeans are actually a watermelon red and probably having g their last wear on me as they will be donated after they are washed. They do not stay up well without a belt.<br /> This outfit was mostly inspired by the first ( front) girl I. The painting and I went with colors she is wearing rather than the background. My brownish top because of the color of her skin. The white vest because of the color and shape of her top, red pants for her red skirt. White pearls inspired by her white flower. Brown booties again thinking of skin tones. My pinkish scarf is a nod to the other girls’ dress. Underneath it all I am wearing golden yellows. Then I had to switch some things around so late to post for Gauguin. When I saw the painting, I immediately thought of my new sweater. The rounded shapes and the colors are great to represent this painting imo. What to pair it with, was another thing. I wanted to reference the earth tones and the intimate atmosphere of femininity. So I paired my sweater with this cinnamon midi skirt. Since the earth tones don’t match, I’m not sure of the end result. But for a day working from home I sure am comfy. I don't normally wear red and toffee together as it feels too bright and warm, but it's a bright, warm painting! I have a scarf in a warm pink like the second lady's dress. I would never have thought to pair these colours, but I liked the effect and felt energized in a meeting with colleagues in black, grey and blue.</p> <p>To offset the tailoring of the outfit, this was the best scarf-tie I could come up with to bring some relaxed casualness. For a snowy day (I usually reserve these pants for bone-dry weather), I tucked them into my floppy black snow boots. I wore my yellow brocade dress that has flowers on it. I normally wear red shoes and bag with this, but felt that there was quite a sombre mood to this painting despite the bright colours so went with a more conservative shoe and bag. My dress is very covered up, which is what seems evident from the lady in the portrait in western clothes and the people in the background. I read that Tahiti had a population of 80,000 prior to French colonisation which fell to 4,000 after disease introduced by foreigners, including small pox killed the locals. I went for using the colors but really struggled with, there are&nbsp; so many torrid colors each on other.&nbsp; It's spring-so I wouldn't use these colors now- and I dress for an office!&nbsp; </p> <p>First I wanted to include my olive plaid cigarette&nbsp; pants for the greens but then it occured me&nbsp; the pictie is showcasing&nbsp; feminity in it's all glory-(primitive or colonised) so decided showing some leg is more feminine and I changed for a green pleather skirt. In this picture, it can be seen in the Western style dress of the women at the back.
