Michelle and I have spoken privately about the current fit of the dress. It's important to remember that this dress is pinned. Nothing is lying flat or sleek at the moment becuse it had not been tailored or sewn yet.

Steph, I hear you on the suggestion of a wider waistband. While intuitively that makes sense, in my experience of dressing women, a wider waistband on a dress like this *can* actually widen the waist. It's a slippery slope. But Michelle, you might like Tania to try that out.

Also, the elbow length sleeve is not lying flat at the moment. It would look a lot better if it did - probably as good as the sleeveless :0)

I was also concerned with how the halter style attaches to the dress in the front. It appears to go under the breasts and around the neck, forming a sort of sling effect, as though your breasts are being supported by the halter. However, I feel like the effect will somehow be lessened when that one sleeve is removed because the dress will become a strap dress rather than a sleeve dress and the halter will integrate better.

Hopefully these comments don't freak you out. It's definitely going to be a lovely dress, but when you get something custom made it's worth being fussy!

Michelle, this color is perfect for you. Your skin just glows with it.
I am as Steph a little bit concerned with the halter style. It looks like fabric is gathered under your breasts, is it? I think this fabric gathering adds volume to this area. Unless this is the effect you are after I would check with Tania how it will look without this bunching. It may be more streamlined and slimming look for you.
You will look lovely at the wedding - can't wait for pictures!

Michelle, like everyone else, I think that the color is fantastic, and I also love the shape of the v-neck on you. I am, however, going to be the first person who suggests some tweaks. I'm not sure if anyone will agree with me, but I think that the waistband would look better if it were wider. Right now it is pretty narrow and right below your chest, and I think that a wider waistband would do a better job of showing off your shape.

Also--and based on the other comments, it looks like I am the only one who thinks this--I am not a huge fan of the halter detailing. I would prefer the dress without, because I think it would make for a cleaner, less-busy bodice. I do think that the dress would look nice sleeveless.

lovely dress, great neckline with the halter addition. I echo everyone else who says sleevless! I think it looks more modern as a sleevless dress. I think the wrap that Angie suggests sounds perfect, add some accessories and you'll look a million dollars!

(Jumping on the bandwagon, I much prefer the sleeveless style as well. It fits much better with the drape of the dress from my perspective.)

The color and style of your new dress are gorgeous! I'd also like to see the wrap the color of the dress or lining or something close enough to blend. Could a little bolero jacket with elbow length sleeves and of the sheer fabric be made? I picture it coming nowhere near meeting in the front so that it wouldn't detract too much from the dress's draping. Another thought would be to make it long and flowing.

Yes! I did tell you that, and judging from the consensus, I am right :p

As for the wrap: I wonder if you could find something patterned that picks up on the colors of your dress and bag (my favorite color combo in the world, btw). That might be a tall order, especially considering how much you hate wrap shopping. I'm kind of ambivalent on whether you should add another color, or match an existing color in your outfit. A red wrap might be too matchy with the bag, but adding an additional color might be too much. Perhaps silver? Your shoes are silver but they aren't as prominent. It could make a nice bookend. Or white with some kind of shimmer to it.

Michelle!! What a gorgeous color and stunning design. I absolutely love the halter effect. I am 100% on Team No Sleeves. Cream would be a lovely color if a wrap is needed.

Is the lining visible anywhere? If so, that is the other possibility for a wrap yet I wonder if it would provide any warmth.

Are you wearing those silver shoes you just got?

no... you look really good without the sleeves. It is a huge misconception that arms look bigger without sleeves. It has much more to do with body shape. I am a fairly slender hourglass with somewhat decent arms but the minute I put on short sleeves I look busty and chubby. Pears on the other hand look nice in short sleeves because they add to the shoulder line and balance the figure out.
I'm wondering what the sleeves would look like as cap sleeves?

No need to duck!! I'm open to suggestions!
One of the other seamstresses in the store felt hte sleeve was good and gave it a more formal look. I think Tania does want to shorten it some. I'm concerned that my gigantic arms will look stupid if we leave the sleeves off, but if that's the consensus that I'll listen and we can do it the ylf way!

(ducking)... can she leave the sleeves off?

I LOVE that front halter detailing and without the sleeve it is really dramatic and is very sexy. With the sleeve it looses it's dramatic flair to me. Or maybe shorten the sleeve a bit?
