Yes, what Anne said. The Carissa shirt is $99, and then there is $12 shipping added to the cost.

That's really the only reason I was thinking of breaking for the shell. It would be around half the price of the buttondown. The offer doesn't expire so Carissa says I can use it whenever I'm ready, so I think I'm better off waiting and getting it when I'm out of the hole.

Okay. I’m dense. Why are you paying for something that you won, Maya?

I vote the Carissa shape (bell shaped hem). But ask Carissa too because she really knows her stuff.

After all the calculations (balance + shipping), it will come to $41, which is not expensive at all for this beautiful shirt. It just isn't doable for me at this time, so I'm going to have to wait on it unfortunately. Anyway, Carissa says it's backordered so I couldn't order it now regardless.

Anyway, I forgot to mention that there is another buttondown style available:

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_siB0.....r+1009.jpg

Carissa explains the difference between the two this way: "Carissa has a bell shaped hem on the high hip, while Emma is long & lean with a shirttail hem."--Carissa and Emma being the two different styles. Carissa is the one Kari and Nicole have. Emma is the new one.

Which of these styles would be better for my body type? Or is the difference subtle enough that I could go either way?

I'd vote for the button down as well. For the $15 difference, you'll get so much more wear out of it. Overall, price/wear on the button down will be less.

Hmm well Angie has spoken, so I guess I have no choice!

I re-read Nicole's review, and she needed to get the sleeves shortened just as a matter of fit, so I'm pretty sure I may need to get them shortened anyway since I am shorter than her. If I do, I may as well shorten them to 3/4 or elbow length. I could just roll them up, but I want a smoother option for layering underneath a lightweight cardigan, or one of my 3/4 sleeve sweater tunics. It will also make it more appropriate for wearing as it gets warmer.

I guess the cream is pretty but maybe not for me. I do prefer more contrast with all my black.

OK, white shirt it is.

Oh yay, Maya! That is GREAT, and you totally deserve a win for Carissa's products for so many reasons. I can't wait to see how they work on you.

I vote for the button-down because a) it's harder to find and b) it's more of a long-term investment piece. I think the cream is brand-new because it wasn't available on the website when I ordered my shirt - it looks great! I'm kind of partial to white for you, though. Your skin tone looks so beautiful against "extreme" neutrals like black or white.

I'm actually tempted to alter my Carissa shirt to a 3/4 or elbow length sleeve because I'm so paranoid about staining the cuffs by resting them on a dirty surface when I'm working or eating!

I adore the persian red shell, too. Maybe put that on your wish list?

A window opens whenever a door closes. Fantastic, Maya! You know how impressed I am with Carissa’s products. And Carissa rocks too. Yay! You’re finally going to get a WOVEN statement piece.

I’m going to pull rank – you MUST go with the button down. Sorry. Bossy Angie. I’m with elpgal.

Hmmm. Cream or white. I have both colour buttons downs and adore then equally. My gut says white. More graphic and modern.

Congratulations on your win, Maya - I hope it makes you feel better.
The red shell is very pretty. Could you get both pieces? If that is not an option, I think I would go for the white button-down. It's a beautiful piece, and to me long sleeves are the most versatile, and you can always roll them up, so I would not alter them (except if you need to shorten them for petite size).

OK, as always I can't seem to make any decisions without first asking YLF...

Sooo...here is my conundrum:

The two pieces from BH that would be most useful to me are the silk shell and the "button" down shirt. I have really been wanting a new basic buttondown but this one seems more like a standalone piece and I use them mostly for layering. I think I would need to alter the sleeves to be short sleeves in order to use it that way. The pros are that if I did want to wear it on its own, I definitely could. It has a nice feminine shape which I usually don't get in a buttondown. And of course, it is so hard for someone my size to find a decent buttondown that doesn't pull or gape, so this would be my best bet.

Now, if I did go with the buttondown, my other question is if I should go for white or cream? I have always gone with optic white because it's usually just easier to find, but the cream looks awfully pretty. I can wear warm and cool colors equally well so that doesn't really help in assessing which is more flattering.

The silk shell now comes in two gorgeous new colors, and I am particularly fond of the Persian red (nice nod to my ancestry as well). It's definitely dressier than anything I usually wear, but I often find myself wanting something like this for added texture or for an interview under a jacket. Again, I don't think I'm likely to wear it without something layered over it, although I certainly could.

Here are the items in question:

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_siB0.....r+1002.jpg

http://www.bratiquehelene.com/.....-p-30.html

http://www.bratiquehelene.com/.....-p-44.html

The other thing is that my credit is $70, so I would probably end up paying $30 for the buttondown shirt before even getting to the sleeve alteration. The silk shell would be only $15.
