I'm not great with remembering what constitutes what in the Colour Me Beautiful system (or whatever that is) but.....I am wearing this yellow top today in fact. I've had in the closet for a couple of months and have been scared of it, but figured I would try it today. I didnt' want to look like a bee, because I am wearing it with black pants so I am wearing it with a leopard print overcoat. Anyway - it is decidedly even brighter and more intense a yellow than the find pic below suggests. I am not a winter - but am sort of in-between cool and warm skin tones. I don't know - anyways , I didn't think I could wear it either, but am quite liking it today.

I'm in the same boat. Get a yellow accessory! I keep thinking about a yellow handbag and the yellow converse sneakers.

As someone who really does not want to wear yellow, I'm thinking that the very fact that you do, means that you can.
While I'm sure that just finding the right shade would probably work fine, maybe a flattering print that includes yellow would be easier to find? And there's always the option of wearing it so that it's not up against your face, which is the most challenging place for colors. Maybe pants? A bag or shoes?

I think seasonal palettes are nice generic guideline, but everybody has some distintive traits, so two deep winters will have lots in common, but won't be the exactly same.

My dominant traits are cool-pinkish pale skin and dark ash brown hair and this makes me a winter, but I have light freckles and golden/green hazel eyes that can go from muted moss one day to sparkling citrines another, so I'm in-between deep/clear winter. My worst color is beige, but most yellows and colors with a yellowish/orangish undertone aren't flattering at all. On the other hand, finding a flattering yellow is difficult, but when you do it it really worths the trouble. I have a poncho in a color that is a pale yellow like the "brick pattern" in this page http://background-kid.com/pale.....round.html and It looks better than good on me.

I think this specific color won't work so well for deep winters with medium or dark skin tones, but if this is your case you can google "kim kardashian yellow dress" to see some yellows that are flattering for her and may work for other deep winters as well (and also ones that clearly don't work).

Years ago I designed my color palette. For financial reasons, I stayed true to a core of black and white. I added in color accents in red, fuchsia, and powder blue.

This worked for me because everything matched everything else. All the colors were really easy for me to wear and I truly loved them.

I want to break out of the mold I've been in and try new things. Perhaps yellow is not the color I should start with though. Something new to me, but easier to wear.

Rabbit's comment made me laugh because I think that was exactly what the sales clerk was thinking.

It is a hard one to get right, I would like to get something yellow this winter but there's not much out there.

It could be hard to exactly the right yellow in exactly the right coat..but such a thing would be beautiful!

I look pretty awful in every yellow I've ever tried, so I understand. It doesn't bother me -- plenty of other colors I like better anyway! I can do some in a print if it's not overwhelming and isn't close to my skin.

Is there a forum member close to your coloring? That may be one way to get help. A saturated dandelion and a sour bright citron look amazing on me; meanwhile any dull, pastel or mustard shade makes me look and feel sickly. Your yellow is out there, really.

I'm a deep winter and I've tried sour citrons, and warm yellows, and icy yellows and no luck. I can occasionally wear some oranges though, so maybe there is one somewhere.... but yeah, I hold up a yellow shirt to my face in a mirror, and more than once a passing shopper has said 'not your color'.

I'm sure there's a shade of yellow that will work for you. I'm a fellow winter (I think), and I've learned that I really can't wear yellow next to my skin unless it's just the "right" shade. That being said, how do you feel about a top with yellow in it, but not entirely yellow?

I'm sure there's a yellow out there for you, but they can be tricky and I know many people don't like to deal with the color. Are you distinctively cool or do you have warm leanings at all? If you have even a little bit of warm leanings (headed into Deep Autumn) then you can wear a very clear goldenrod yellow (#1 below). If you're truly cool then there are several icy shades of yellow that could potentially work for you. Hopefully someone who's a true cool can chime in about those shades.

I was enamored with one of Angie's ensembles. I became obsessed with finding a yellow color I could wear (deep winter). I really tried. I found myself at Nordstorms yesterday and the sales person told me not to even try. I couldn't wear yellow. Period.

So it goes.
