Thanks for your opinions, everyone! I decided to just go for it and am wearing the blazer today. I'm bookending with my light colored boots and I think it's OK. You'll have to wait till the weekend for the photos though... am super busy this week so I've decided to show you the whole Jacket Week at once.

For me, the fabric would determine whether or not it would work for winter. Cotton seems spring and summer to me and would probably not work where I live, but I guess if you live in a warmer climate it might be fine.

Hmm, it's like a medium weight cotton and lined. Not very warm or thick, but it has a bit of structure. The back has a very lightweight, somewhat sheer ruffle trim. Not sure whether that will work.

Suz, you make a good point about having to pair it with the right things. I guess one reason I almost never do winter white is that most of my clothes, but particularly my winter clothes, are very dark. So I'm not really even sure I have the pieces to pair with anything in winter white, regardless of whether or not it is too summery. Will have to think about this some more. In the (summer) outfit in the photo above, I think the darker colors are OK with the white b/c I have bare legs to bookend the white slightly but obviously I can't do that in winter.

ETA: If, hypothetically, I were to wear this in a winter outfit, what would you pair it with? The only light colored boots I have are my light taupe midcalf slouchy pair. I guess if it's not too cold I could also wear my gold oxfords.

For me the fabrication would probably read too summery, but I am uptight about this. I can see it potentially with the right combination of other things. And of course it depends on your winter climate. I'd wear it in Vancouver (maybe) and California (for sure) but here, not so much.

White blazers are great in winter but I'm concerned that the fabrication may read too summery? Is the cotton thin or fairly thick?

To me, this jacket seems too light-weight for winter. Most of the winter whites I've seen have a more substantial weight. But then, I live in Nebraska, and it gets cold here. If it's warm enough to wear it, then it might be good.

To me the weight matters more than the color. So if it's a heavy cotton (not linen) it is fine. People wear white shirts and sweaters year round, right?

ahh, thanks for the clarification. I guess, for me, it would depend on the fabrication of the jacket. Some fabrics transcend seasons and others really seem to be rather specific. (Velvet doesn't work so well in summer and Linen definitely reads summer to me, for example).

Oh, Kat, I didn't mean that outfit! It's just the only photo of the blazer I had on hand and is from August. I would be wearing this with boots, jeans, scarf, or something like that.

If it's warm enough for those cute sandals, it seems that the season is kind of irrelevant and the white jacket looks great with those pants!

Originally I would have said nay for white in winter (don't know why as snow is white and you don't get much winterier than that!) but then Angie blogged http://youlookfab.com/2012/11/.....ad-to-toe/ so a tentative yay from me x

So I'm not always so good at determining when things are seasonally inappropriate (probably a byproduct of growing up in southern CA where there are no seasons). Anyway, this week I have decided to have a mini version of Rae's jacket challenges and wear a different jacket each day of the week. I was wondering whether my white summer blazer would be inappropriate in a winter outfit? It's white cotton, with some lightweight blushy beige trim.

Yay: go for it! winter white is a thing!
Nay: Too summery, wait until spring at least.

ETA: I don't mean this entire outfit - just the blazer. I'd be wearing it in a wintery ensemble with boots, long pants, and scarf or something along those lines.
