I would not describe the dress as inherently casual. It can be dressed down (with the denim jacket you mentioned, for instance), but on its own I would describe this dress as dressy casual, or even a bit nicer than that. I own a lot of dresses at this level of formality and I think of them as a step or so down from cocktail attire. You could definitely wear this to a bridal shower, nice dinner, rehearsal dinner, etc. You could also wear it to a daytime wedding. I'm hoping that might help in terms of its level of dressiness. Having said that, you could also easily wear it to go shopping. </p> <p>I like your instinct to wear edgier accessories with the dress, and think that would work. Grey pearls will definitely make it look more traditional, but that could work as well--it would just be a different look.
