Your vision of Europe is quite accurate, at least the local market and neighbourhood part of it is. Life without a car is very appealing and so is small living. As with every country you live in, there is the good and the not so good. You have to make it work because you’re living there! </p> <p>I LOVE a pretty garden. How long did you live in Paris? I have never been abroad, but I have this romantic vision of Europe. It must be from photos and books I've read--but I picture a life without a car, which would bring you closer to your neighbors and neighborhood. Stopping in at local markets, instead of a chain grocery store, and buying fresh produce and bakery items from a stand on a sidewalk. My husband and I talk about the day our children are out on their own, and we will hopefully move to a location where we are not dependent on cars and can feel more connected to our enviornment.</p> <p>BTW, my dad is french, but he's Canadian...and I do love to garden--which I picked up from my dad. You should see his gardens!
