I used Sky before, and it's fantastic: Soft and drapey. &nbsp;I read that Drops Kid Silk is actually one of the best affordable mohair yarns you can buy. The color selection is a bit limited compared to say Rowan's mohair silk. Nevertheless, iI don't think you can go wrong. unfortunately, the green color doesn't look like it will work with the tweed yarn, after swatching it. (The mohair is too light in value.) I'll find another use for it or resell it. Let me know if you try any Drops yarns and what you think of them. I love local yarn shops and really want to support them. I have wanted to try some Drops yarn, this inspires me to seek it out. I totally agree about the pricing. I was in a yarn shop last weekend and many of the skeins were almost $30. That would at minimum be $150 for a sweater. There is a lot of discussion in the fiber world on sustainability and local producers. But then we also have the other side of the coin: how do people with less money afford to knit? And in that case, we have to let go of local, and/or embrace some acrylic. It’s often a much better price than US yarn shops. I’m on a budget and I have to be thoughtful about prices. I use Inspir A Mind and Wool &amp; Co. for US based purchases. </p> <p>The Irish yarn is sold by a woman on Etsy, in Latvia. And then the mohair is from a place in Denmark. You can find Soft Donegal from other places though. </p> <p> I use a lot of Holst yarn brand. It’s a beautiful woolen-spun yarn made in Denmark. It’s really economically priced and nice quality. It’s $3-4/50g direct from Holst, or $6.50 from Inspire a Mind. </p> <p>I also really like WoolyKnit, Jamieson, Lion Brand Wool-ease, Lettlopi, Berroco Vintage and Ultra Alpaca, and Brown Sheep Naturespun. I’m not above using Lion Brand Pound of Love acrylic yarn. Nevertheless! I must share that my yarn for the knitted kimono jacket has arrived. My husband purchased the yarn for my birthday. </p> <p>It’s two yarns held together.<br /> Yarn 1: Soft Donegal Tweed. Irish wool tweed spun in a historic Irish yarn mill. Color is a deep, warm forest green with wine, orange, and cool purple flecks. </p> <p>Yarn 2: Drops Kid Silk. Mohair and silk. Color is a neutral-warm green. The silk core has a bit of a gold tinge to it. </p> <p>My hope is that the cardigan turns out beautifully and more importantly, that it fits beautifully.
