Seven years ago the unthinkable happened, she had a massive stroke which left her paralysed down one side. So she went from being a very youthful, active woman, to being hospitalised for months and left with a significant disability.</p> <p>Through this, she has maintained her grace, dignity, sense of humour and her faith in God. For me, she is the definition of a strong and beautiful person. We were blessed to have these additional years with her, but losing her independence has been so very hard on her.</p> <p>Because it is summer, we had an ice-cream cake and I wore one of my favourite summer dresses, just a simple white shift dress.</p> <p>The ice-cream cake was as good as it looks!</p> <p> </p>
