This is such a struggle. Found some great stuff in Italy recently at very reasonable prices (especially Sisley). i know that doesn’t help much right now, but my point is Europe is usually a season or two ahead of the US designers, so maybe there’s hope. I sometimes have found pieces at Banana Republic or JCrew (good sales too!)

Just a related update: on my most recent visit to Target they had many woven blouses, most with sleeves. I didn’t have the time to try any on, but if you’re looking for an economical option that might be a place to start. It’s not something I’ve seen much of at other stores recently, at least not yet.

Thanks for all the recs! The wovens are definitely the kind of thing I was thinking of. I have one popover-type blouse in a drapey poly from Talbots which is what I wore to my interview last week; it's cream with black polka dots so with a black blazer and pants it felt very monochrome and almost waiter-like. That's why I wanted to look for something with some color or print so it isn't quite so severe.

I've found one candidate at Talbots in blue and will keep my eye out for others. Unfortunately the NYDJ popovers don't fit me well, or they'd be a go-to.

These go up to size XL (runs big), and US18 - Boden & WHBM. All good under a blazer, and fab when you take off the blazer:

I like mixed media blouses as well. But sometimes I've had a problem with them. The two fabrics will not last equally well. The back will wash like a tshirt and start looking worn out way before the front. They basically have the life span of a tshirt but the price point of a blouse.

I prefer to wear knits under my own blazer too - like Gretchen and others. Laura specifically asked for woven tops, so I focused on those.

From my own wardrobe, I wear these knits under my blazers:

i 2nd Gretchen's knit/jersey suggestion. IMO it works really well in business casual situations...something like the 1st find, which has interesting details at the neck and sleeves so that it elevates beyond basic...i've also become a fan of these mix media kind of tops....the easy of knitwear but the dressier look of a woven in front

I can't figure out the collector feature, sorry, but here are links to things I know work from experience, although I have not knowledge of these specific pieces.

Flat-knit sweaters, ala: https://www.pendleton-usa.com/.....47650.html
(Cashmere shells work great here, too.)

Thin woven tops, like the myriad from Pure Collection:
* https://www.purecollection.com.....wDefault=1
* https://www.purecollection.com.....wDefault=1
* https://www.purecollection.com.....wDefault=1
* https://www.purecollection.com.....wDefault=1

I live in blazers with knitted or jersey tops for work. Button downs are an absolute no for me. There are a lot of options at Boden, and I have had good luck with Halogen and Vince Camuto as well. Some finds below.

I am going to be following this with interest as well. I have a similar issue. I like to wear blazers but don't like button downs with them, too corporate for my purposes. I do wear sleeveless but not in winter.
These are the ones that currently work for me. I have a few more as well but not finds.These are not available for purchase but should give you an idea of what to look for.

Kind of piggybacking on bridgie’s post here; I’ve had some recent job interviews and related activities and struggled with what to wear, specifically tops. Ideally something that looks ok under a blazer but also interesting enough if you take off the blazer, and for the same reason not sleeveless, so not just a shell. Some thinner sweaters work in the winter but I don’t think they’re as flattering on me, and what about the rest of the year?

Basically I guess I’m struggling with putting together a business casual to business formal outfit that looks current and not dated, and not horribly unflattering on my current plus pear-meets-apple figure.
