I love maxi skirts and wear them whenever I can. I am 5'2" and slim.

I am in Diana's camp. I have found without fail that a maxi that is cut either straight up and down or else is really snug at the hips and slim at the bottom (kind of like a long pencil skirt) is necessary to prevent frump. The maxi you posted would be too voluminous at the bottom, IMO, and would not be flattering.

I wear my maxi skirts at a length that grazes the top of my foot. I generally wear them with flat-soled shoes and not heels. I am short waisted, so flat-soled shoes help keep my bottom half from looking overly long. It seems like maxis generally have high waists, so they can emphasize long-leggedness.

I'm uploading photos of my three favorite maxis. The first one is very fitted through the hips and is quite slim at the bottom; a long slit is needed in back to enable you to walk, which gives you an idea of how fitted it is. The second one is a little more voluminous, but it is a pretty straight cut from top to bottom. The third one is a little deceiving from the picture, but it has two long slits on the sides, which enable the front panel to hang straight up and down.

I've had to have all three of these skirts hemmed. I think the tailor took between two and three inches off each.

Well, I'm 5'1" and slim, and they don't work on me. A maxi dress, on the other hand, usually does work, because it creates one long column on colour.

I think they work. Personally I prefer a column skirt like the one I'm wearing in the photo below, a little slimmer at the bottom than the one you've linked, because it gives the longest line.

Yes, I think it could work, especially if it's a slim fit, and if you create a single column of colour.

I think you have the right build to pull it off especially if you can wear something fitted or "airy" on top. I've only been able to get maxis with a high low hem to work on me. The bottom needs to be broken up a bit otherwise I look like a brick.

I think if you go slimmer fit it can definitely work. Not too many gathers.
I loved many of the maxi skirts worn by Asher Keddie/Nina on Offspring (may be familiar to Australian and NZ readers).

Yes I think you can. I am petite but I tend to wear a midi length when I go long. I like to see a little skin at the ankle/calf. My BFF just passed a maxi dress onto me and and I cut it down so it has an asymmetric hemline. Maxi length can swamp us petites if not careful.

I think a maxi skirt *could* work on a woman of any height, but did you see that the model in this pic is 5'11"?

Hi ladies. I am wondering if petite girls like myself can wear maxi skirts. I always felt overwhelmed in one but it looks so pretty on other women.

I would love to try this skirt, tell me if you think it would work on me. I am 5'1 and slim, for reference
