Thanks Lyn - and Angie - trying a layering top under might work. It’s a pretty blouse and fun to wear lace.

Thanks Ket - I was wondering about a vest. The right one would work with two shirts and maybe under blazers too? And don’t worry - I have simple winter formula as well.

Thank you Irina. I hope you get some better weather soon. Spring can be frustrating…..

Brooklyn - metallic could be fun! I love cables too. I hope to get to a boutique this week that stocks some labels I really like - to try on a few options….

Thanks Joy - a white sweater could be really good. And yes being warm is important - although as someone in menopause I am feeling the heat more at the moment….

Thanks Jaime. It’s just a blazer - I have worn it about six- eight times - it’s best suited for night time when it is great to have as an extra topper. Second hand for $50:)

Love that you have 2 pieces at least included in both your capsules for summer and fall (the gold satin slip skirt and the bomber)-love when that happens! Too bad about the low neckline on that lacey blouse-couldn't that be bossed on it a bit if you'd want? Curious to see your new aditions for fall and cannot wait to see your new wiw for the new season -I especially love the printed dress and the cold shouldered black jumper.

What a fabulous summer wardrobe! So chic, breezy, and feminine. I am inspired! I too want to see you in that tuxedo jacket!!

For autumn, I think any kind of corduroy or velvet is a wonderful addition! I also love a good animal fiber cardigan for autumn/winter. (Alpaca, wool, mohair, cashmere, and various blends.)

I am toying with the idea to add a knit vest. So, a vest might be another idea for you? I haven't really seen them gaining steam for trends. But with 90's styles having a renaissance, I could see a vest being a great addition.

Boots are always welcome. Another option is a velvet smoking loafer.

For winter, I personally get a lot of wear out of

dress and wool topper.

jeans/pants/skirt, blouse/tee, and wool topper

jeans/pants/skirt, turtleneck, wool scarf, maybe a topper

Writing it out, the aforementioned doesn't sound exciting. It's obviously a skeletal formula open to imagination and interpretation.

I am looking forward to cooler weather too! If you are thinking about buying a new sweater, you could use it to add some texture to your wardrobe. Cables, ribbing, open knit, metallic weave, ladder pattern… lots of possibilities.

Have you tried tying the lacey blouse at the waist with a skirt and over a white tank top? Then you can wear it to work.

Thank you , Sal. Boots and socks are good for cold weather. So is a pair of ski or snow pants. Clean your sweaters and look for a couple of new ones. Wool skirts and knit dresses are nice to have for winter events.

As I age, I get colder. I wear a topper all of most days to be warm enough. Invest in an alpaca white sweater to go over everything. Jean jackets are great for casual looks. Look at jackets. You may want to size up a bit.

The below pieces I am less looking forward to wearing.

The shirt dress I am a bit tired of but plan to keep as it is a useful piece. The rust dress I think I may donate - I have worn it 15 or so times (purchased second hand) but I rarely choose it. It's too warm for summer but not warm enough for winter...

The pleated trousers, black long knit coat and ecru silk shirt are up for review. I may do some outfit labs.

Thanks MsMaven - I am wearing the mustard blazer today - I went off it last year as it is a more fitted style but I do like and am going to wear it with trendy bottoms to make it work!!

I love your summer dresses Bijou - but I understand the longing for some cooler temperatures. I rarely wear jeans in summer so have been pleased to pull them out again for autumn.

Roberta - the tote is useful. I have always found two toned bags featuring black to be really good additions - I have owned three or four and they have all worked!!

Runcarla - thanks. The first bloom dress has had a couple of wears - it's a good easy work piece for me. I should make a bit of a mood board for new additions. But in all honesty I do have enough options without new additions - so I can take my time.....

The First Bloom dress, the pink oxfords, and the mustard blazer catch my eye. Nice ‘shop your closet’ capsule for moving into cooler temps.

My current (vacation) location has me giddy with excitement for S/S. I’m people watching to see how Florida folks dress to cope with the heat. It’s a better exercise (more realistic/practical) than looking at strictly resort wear.

Lovely to see your workhorses of summer and what you are looking forward to wearing. My summer was the hottest on record and so I lived in summer dresses and breezy skirts and tops. The capsule below was in heavy rotation. I relied on my shoes, bags and belts to make items feel fun and interesting.

I am looking forward to wearing jeans, boots and blazers again!

Love that mustard blazer--I'm looking forward to seeing it on you as well. And that slip skirt!

A tuxedo blazer seems like such a great idea. I've been looking for something like this for a couple of years. Well, haven't been looking that hard--I just keep hoping one suddenly jumps out at me. This would be such a nice item to have in the closet.

That beautiful wool coat looks great to me as well. Such a beautiful color: grayed pink. The more I look at your pieces, the more I am entranced.

It sounds like you have done some serious thinking about autumn and your wardrobe and have a good plan. Good luck finding what you need.
I like your picks for the most part. It looks like they will fit in with what you have and work out well with falling temperatures.

We are having a lovely early autumn - it is cool in the mornings but bright and sunny during the day. Suddenly I am not wanting to wear sandals and I need something long sleeved for the start and end of the day.

Looking back to summer
My shopping for summer went well - it was an easier year to dress for than the summer of 22/23 - with more typical weather. My new pieces in for the season (excluding the gear which were all workhorses) were mostly well worn (with the green and white top and white shorts being very late additions - too early to tell). The only piece that was a bit disappointing was the white lacy blouse - it's a bit too low cut to wear to work - I sized up for a slouchy fit - it got six wears in total.

Looking forward to autumn/winter
I haven't shopped as yet with the exception of an olive satin bomber in out of season sales (replacing my gold bomber which has finally exited). I haven't seen too much that excites me - I want at least two pieces of knitwear, one footwear option and leaving the rest open. I would like a more interesting cardigan or sweater. I don't know re footwear either.
I do want to add in some texture - maybe new cords or something velvet? Any ideas?

I will post in the second post the autumn and winter everyday pieces i am excited to wear and welcome ideas for additions that you see being me.

No WIW at the moment - its been all repeats and outdoor wear of late.

Thanks in advance!
