Thanks Krista, and yes Traci dresses are a no in our workplace. However we can wear our formal clothes like a cotton sari and blouse or salwar kurtis with shawl. Maybe I can add that and they can be colorful too.
Snakeskin pumps and bags are nice addtions that will be in my next shopping list and yes scarfs too.

I think I would add in some texture and pattern. How about a pair of snakeskin pumps or leopard print flats? A textured or metallic belt? A colorful but structured handbag? I'd also try some non button up blouses, I like a less structured top under a structured jacket.

Dresses are a no for your workplace, right?

Fashionista-
I like this work capsule - seems very complete to me. The only thing I would suggest is one or two patterned items that can be used with multiple items, such as a scarf or necklace that matches some of the bright colored items you are mentioning. It could also be a sweater or top. It just might provide some additional variety to the capsule.

I speak from experience - I've just created some capsules to get me through the first few weeks of back to school (I'm a high school administrator) and the patterned pieces provided some relief to the solid colors I have in the capsule.

Hope this helps!

I'm not sure of your exact dress code. But to liven things up, perhaps a pinstripe. I used to really love suits with a matching vest. My boss went for them also. A lot of the time I'd leave the suit jacket off and the vest would do. How about printed blouses?

Fashionista, it sounds like our work wardrobe needs are very similar. If it helps any, this is what I came up with in response to Angie's blog post yesterday regarding my own wardrobe essentials.

Work:
1. Suits: 3-4 suits that can also be worn as separates
2. Neutral trousers: multiple pairs of various styles and lengths. Straight leg, wide leg and boot cuts
3. Silky button down tops: I’m finding that I feel more comfortable with a silky top rather than a crisp button down
4. Sleeveless layering shells in multiple colors, prints and necklines
5. Heels: black, grey and a lighter color to match my hair
6. Dressy tall boots: black and “blonde”
7. Chunky watches: my chunky white DKNY is the one I use most, but I also have a fab chunky gold MK watch.

Home/MOTG:
1. Jeans: 4-5 pairs, boot cuts, straight leg and skinnies
2. Relaxed button down shirts: again, not crisp and starched, but a looser, more relaxed fit
3. Oversized sweaters: to bundle up in and wear over skinnies
4. More fitted knits – sweaters and cardigans to wear with straight leg or boot cut jeans
5. Layering tees: long and short sleeve
6. Tall flat boots: black and grey
7. Short boots
8. Comfortable flats
9. Cons

Quick tip: To save the trouble of copy/pasting and losing the replies you already have, just use the "Report Post" feature to tell us that the post should move to a different category. We will then move it across. This is a very easy action for a moderator to take.

Fashionista, I think you have posted this in the wrong spot. My understanding is this is for selling and swapping items. You may want to repost under "Dressing" and I am sure others will respond:)

So here I am again. I have been visiting this site for quite some time reading all your posts and Angie's words of wisdom on closet reviews. But had not been posting my answers to any posts due to my time constraint. Today however I took out some time to post this after reading Angie's post on wardrobe essentials.

I have to mostly wear uniform and strictly formal wear in my office so I have been for quite some time building my wardrobe keeping in view these formal wear. Apart from my office uniform, I have added the pieces to my formal office wear and formal office parties, conferences wardrobe, one at a time. Please review these and make suggestions and comments as to what is more or where am I still lacking. Please suggest, if any wardrobe holes?

1. Two black, one charcoal grey, one navy, one light grey tailored straight legged trousers.
2. Ruffled blouses in black, white, fuschia that is also button up type.
3. One white, one light blue, one maroon, one black, one citron, one brown full sleeved, button up shirts.
4. One black, one white, one charcoal grey, one navy tailored jackets/ blazers.
5. One brown, one black belts, two black leather bags with some hardwares, two medium heeled, one chunky high heeled and one flat all black pumps.

So I have created this work wardrobe capsule one at a time. Suggestions and comments are highly appreciated regarding this. What do I need to add more?
