I'll have to try those places. Thanks Angie. I do most of my shopping at Wal-Mart, Macy's, Dillard’s, and JCPenny. I guess it's time to expand my horizons.

I found oodles of great pants at Esprit today. They were long (of course), but they're otherwise perfect for petites. The legs are on the slimmer side and a lot of them have vertical stripes or other subtle patterns.

I also appreciated their realistic sizing system. Ha, what kind of woman am I, getting all excited about being 2 sizes bigger than usual?

Have you tried Banana Republic Petites slim fit? Also, try Express, Bebe and Arden B and have the legs shortened.

Being a petite myself, I'd like to know where I can find work pants that are not wide legged. Most of my nice non-denim pants are very wide legged and look horrendous on my little body; they make me look as if my legs are as wide as my hips all the way down, certainly not flattering.

There are loads of different cuts for dress pants (wide and slim) and those cut in a slim boot cut or straight leg style will look best on your petite frame. I don’t think that wider dress pants are necessarily more formal. “Trousery” type pants can be slim cut and just as chic. I like the idea of you in pinstripe slacks. It's a hip, arty, versatile and chic look.

The default work pants seem to be the wider, trouserly type...aka the least flattering for me. To clarify, I am (or will be) working as a graphic designer, so there's no need for me to get anything super formal. I'm just wondering if straighter pants are inherently more casual. If so, what kind of pants should I be looking for? I'm constantly hearing about pinstripes being a petite's best friend, but I'm still not sure about the cut of the pants.

And well, most of you probably know what my body type is by now, so I figured this would be a good place to ask
