Sounds somewhat like Whiskey Park or the Met here in Boston (though neither of those places have sports lounges). The dress code is about setting a particular atmosphere.

I do like the dress on you - and since I'm the hipless wonder I completely understand wanting a tulip shape dress to give the illusion of fuller hips. However, I'm wondering if by hemming it higher, somehow the proportions are now off? But, that may just be the angle, and your hand in your pocket, that is throwing the silouhette off for me!

Are you required to wear sleeveless? If so, how do you look in spaghetti straps - or even strapless? I'm wondering if you went spaghetti strap or strapless, then you wouldn't need the fullness in the skirt... does that make sense? The wider straps, in my experience, make shoulders look broader. I like them anyway because they hide my underarm pudge .... but you have no undearm pudge!

How many such outfits are you going to need for this job? I'm assuming you'll need more than one?

Could you wear a long-sleeve but low cut top? Or separates - a mini with a silky black top (I'm imagining the one Tanya bought at Express for her romantic visit to her BF)?

Having never worked for a restaurant, I'm highly curious about the dress code! Are there any shoe requirements - like do you have to wear high heels?

A long strand of pearls - or even multiple strands - would look nice with this dress too.

Heh... I have a dress in my closet I've held on for oh, must be 18-20 years now (before my babies were born, back in my single days) .... it would be perfect for your job! It is similar cut but has swathes of vertical satin strips to give it a tuxedo kind of effect. It's short short short and supposed to be body skimming though lately it's more like tube sausaging on me. LOL.

I kept it mostly to keep track of my figure and how its changing over the years. I can still zip it up - barely! In addition to looking like a python that swallowed a rat (my belly) it also appears that over the years my butt has slid lower, because now when I bend over, you can see my underwear. It didn't used to do that. Sigh....

My DD's tried it on recently and looked sooo much better in it.... though still it was too "mature" for them, they are too young for clubbing!

I see. I guess we do have similar places here in the U.S.
To bad you are not allowed to wear textured hose to work with the beautiful and interesting hose that is out now. I love how they can add extreme texture and interest.

Yes, I live in Canada. The restaurant I work in is actually in one of our major malls Yorkdale mall. We're not allowed to wear any hose except nude hose. The dress code is discussed before you're hired so if there is a problem with it you find another job one of their policies is you must adhere to the dress code. Its not like cleavage is all out or anything the dresscode is almost like club wear. In a way its like a club mixed with fine dining. It's a notch below fine dinning in conduct and the crowd we bring in but the set up and quality of items, food, fine wines, liquor are just like fine dinning.

Where do you live? I think you told us before, is it Canada?
I honestly did not know that there are dress codes requiring women to wear revealing clothing. Is that legal in the U.S.?
Do you wear hose of some kind with this? I think something interesting on the legs would be more polished and take it up a notch.

Thank you. The crowd it draws in is usually around 19 to 30 I'd say we still do get a lot of seniors and families. It's a very sexy restaurant everything is in all black even the food looks visually amazing but some how the place still comes off kind of classy in its own way. It's the kind of place you'd want to take a hot date or your girlfriends for just a good time.

Most of the people that work there are actually models both male and female. The guys are very handsome just as the ladies are beautiful.

If you ever go there the washrooms are amazing the womens actually have these lounge couches that have adjustable mirrors and a adjustable light switch to fix up your make up and the mens actually has a fireplace and 36" LCD tv on sports all the time and also lcd tvs over each urinal.

At the bar they're required to wear skirts shorter than mine, the waiteress' in the dinning room where pants, and hostess' mid thigh skirts or dresses, female managers exactly knee length black skirts no longer or shorter.

My legs are rather long though the skirt is actually mid thigh its not much of a mini on me my hipbone is actually where you see my elbow is holding the camera phone so its not super short where i bend over and get a show. My torso is very short so i usually wear a very low rise in my bottom pieces. If i wear a high waist I drop the high waist lower than where it;s suppose to sit.

I might be out of touch, but I feel your dress is too short – even for a "dress code requirement".

However, I’ve never been to the bar and I’m unsure of the crowd or target market, so I’ll leave it at that. The dress has a really pretty neckline and you have beautiful legs! That was established in the short-shorts you wore a while ago

Nice to have you back on the forum.

I work at Moxies. It's a restaurant, and I'm a Hostess there. It's an interesting restaurant, very versatile in a way. In the dinning room its very family, a lot of seniors, dates, and friends but at the bar it's 19+ its a lounge type atmosphere mixed with sports bar. The hostess have to wear a short dress or skirt and low cut top and be dressed in all black, make up and hair is a must.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com.....16.jpg?v=0

I found this dress at Mexx and had it altered to be a little shorter for work. I love the tulip shape since I don't have a lot of hips lol.
