Thank you! And Beth, oh you so hit it on the head. The purges are ALL falling into the category of 'good black basics'... and oh yes, quite a few pops of colour!!! lol... Firecracker also sent me a photo of her vest with a patterned dress... I can see more adventure coming my way! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!

It's your call on the footwear, boots or pumps would both work. My only advice is to go for a slimmer belt with this combo.

I haven't seen your previous threads, but in response to this one my advice is to add heeled boots and a better fitting belt. I don't see anything wrong with the pieces themselves. They seem to fit well and are flattering...just need a little accessorizing!

Jen: I've just read your last few posts. You are doing excellent work in your closet, and I know the Keep/Purge is the toughest step (and I have some of that to do this weekend, too). I spent a decade relying on the "base of black, plus a pop of color" formula. I believe this formula can still work with modern remixing of the elements, but I wear it a lot less because I decided I was hiding behind it -- trying too hard to look smaller, always appropriate while adhering to a tight budget. I discovered I was ignoring my own taste preferences and was not having "fun with fashion." I'm still learning to let go of my old mindset and am trying to learn to take more risks and wear only what I truly love. I've realized some things along the way -- for instance, red pants don't make my butt bigger, then make it brighter (hee).

I say, ditch the belt and ill-fitting boots and suits. Keep the shooties and the black skirt, orange top and flyaway cardi-- these can be remixed to look fresher -- as Deborah so wonderfully shared in her photo.

I'd encourage you to take a few photos of your favorite items -- the ones that make you feel fab -- post these where you can see them and let them help guide your future choices.

I like the top and the skirt but am unsure about the belt. It's a little heavy looking. An obi belt could be nice and a little more feminine? A crop jacket would be a nice addition here too as would be flats, or as you suggest boots. The coral should look gorgeous against your blond hair.

I like both pieces actually, and with the belt . The skirt with high boots might be too covered up - what about with flats?

The top is a beautiful color. Could you pop a denim jacket or a blazer over it and use for layering?
I am so confused on midi skirts myself that I will defer that one.

I think with your boots (are they knee-high?)), this will be quite nice. I like it on you and would love to see it styled with the boots for a better look at the whole picture. Can you take a photo with your boots?

I have been posting some of my fave wiw's from the work capsule I made following Angies post. I am struggling to work in these 2 pieces. I have been queen of midis forever but not worn this for a few years. Guess the new boots will improve this... The coral top is a sale buy pre ylf... It might be too clingy w clingy trousers? And is the black coral colour combo tired esp with new light hair. Any thoughts most welcome!
