Most of my cardigans are grey and blue, I recently bought a black pussy bow blouse and now I'm having a bit of trouble putting together outfits with it. I need another colour because black is quite harsh against my face and last week I really wished I had a purple or fuchsia or green cardigan in my closet. Just saying... I haven't been following the forum very closely lately, but I love the way you are trying to build your new wardrobe and how much thought you are putting into it. I remember you asking about warmer sweaters for Winter in another thread. I'm always cold, and for me layering is key. (more so than the actual wool content of an item, I do love cashmere and merino wool though, because they are nice and cosy without adding bulk). When it's cold I often wear three layers (not counting outerwear), that just seems to work for me. e.g. cami (silk adds extra warmth) + button-down shirt/woven top (sleeveless is practical with narrower sleeved cardis and sweaters) + jacket/cardigan. I'd certainly consider adding a few more pullovers too. Perhaps a few with different necklines (cowl, shawl collar, asymmetrical neckline, V-neck...). Most pullovers with more open collars can be paired with a turtleneck top or button-down shirt for extra warmth. Or you can 'fill in the gap' with a fun scarf. I think waterfall, drapey, cascading and open front cardigans are still very of the moment, but the traditional cardigan never goes out of style. (the last ones look great with skirts and more wide-legged trousers, I also love them paired with a longer length woven top or tunic, prefer the cardi unbuttoned then). Have you considered knit jackets instead of woven? The fabric usually is a bit more 'flexible', so perhaps these would fit your shoulders better? They are also a great way to add even more variety to your top layer choice. Anyone have any warm sweaters to recommend (especially as they might be on sale) that won't look too frumpy with turtlenecks? What is a good silhouette or neckline? I would have loved to get warm "indoor" jackets, but nothing I tried fit me well through the shoulders. I gradually purged all my old sweaters either because I wore them out or decided they were too bulky to wear under jackets or too shapeless. I don't want to spend a lot per sweater...as I feel they don't last long enough to justify a high price tag...but I'm not sure what's "modern" in sweaters these days...Help! (PS I am looking for cardigans rather than pullovers, I think...)
