Looks like I have more competition for being among the oldest on here, but I am probably the actual oldest. I wear jeans a lot, some BF, relaxed skinnies, and some that are more real skinnies, but these get tucked into tall boots, as I hate the tight , what Angie calls sausage casings, on my bowed legs. sometimes I feel I am too old for jeans, but how can replace them? I am though gong for more colored ones, and am wearing my 2 pairs of white ones year round.

So welcome to the board. Now lets all of us oldies post more photos--I am going to also. I do not look anywhere near as good as Karen, but I love some of my outfits, so wil lpost them, and try to get some better photos.

I have been on here since last spring, and have gotten lost of inspiration. Prior to this forum I was getting tired of pinterest!.

if I looked better for my age I would do a blog called something like "old, not frumpy...However last summer I posted a pair of comfy sandals I purchased, and asked if they looked frumpy and some thought they did..but I wear them with not frumpy clothes, and they are great for lotsa walking...

Welcome, Emme! I think Angie's magic come through very well with Karen. It's very inspirational. Also for a 40 year old member.

At 65, I'm one of the older members on this forum, and, like you, Emme, get inspired every time Angie features a Karen post. Karen is a beautiful woman and is a perfect example of how wonderful an older woman can look wearing today's fashions.

That said, I also know that dressing our aging bodies comes with its own set of unique challenges, especially since health and comfort issues can often trump fashion preferences. My own philosophy is to make sure my clothes make me feel positive about myself. That internal sense is often my best guide as to what trends or ideas will work for me--and what needs to be left in the store. If the fashion world has moved towards volume, then my own "happiness factor" dictates how much volume will work for me. Same goes for color palettes, the height of a heel, the pointiness of a toe, the sheerness of a fabric, and the length of my skirt. And, oddly enough, since I've chosen this strategy, I feel freer to discover my own formulas and to set my own boundries.

To me, that is exactly what Angie does for for her clients. She works within their boundries (Karen's preference for covering her arms, for example) to find outfits that make her clients feel confident and happy when they are wearing them. We may not have Angie at our side but we can listen to ourselves in much the same way as she listens to her clients.

Welcome, Emme. Karen just turned 74 I think, and we usually feature her style on YLF once a year - in the warmer months.

I echo everything that Elly said. (Thanks for stepping in, Elly).

Emme, I'm sure you'll find lots of inspiration here from other members too, and we'd love to see your outfits.

Welcome, Emme!

Retailgirl has a point. Frump isn't limited to older people, and I've noticed that so many women (younger and older) are dated by footwear and other accessories more than anything else.

I'm 53, so I'm not your age yet, but one of the things I do is shop at stores that don't sell frumpy stuff. That pretty much eliminates most stores at the mall, but so be it. I'm okay with online shopping.

I'm 65 and I dress the same way I have all my life. I like classic, well made garments. I am probably not as trendy as some YLFers, but my style is not frumpy. ( I haven't posted any pics; tech challenged!). However, speaking of frumpy, I see people, friends my age and younger who make so many frumpy choices. I think this is most apparent in accessories, esp. Shoes and bags, hairstyles, and eyewear. And wearing clothes that don't fit well, whether it's too big or too small. Anyway! You'll find inspiration here and it's a very supportive, encouraging community.

Welcome, Emme. I will be 69 this year and get lots of inspiration from Angie's posts and Forum members. You look like you shop high quality brands and stores, which will set you apart from your students ( in a good, professional way). I watch especially for updated footwear that has low heels or flat and skirts that hit me on the middle to low knee. Angie sometimes mentions choices for her older clients in her picks, so I watch for those too.

Hi Emme!
Not Angie, but I thought I would jump in. Angie recieves tons of requests about the Karen posts. She has now done multiple blog posts focusing on Karen's style.

I think the thing that we can all learn from the Karen posts is this:

Women in their 70s can wear anything that the 30-50 year old stylish set that makes up the majority of YLF wear, so long as they adjust trends and current styles to their own comfort levels. It is very inspiring to see well-put together and current Karen's fab style, but anything you see on other fab blog posts or forum members could be adjusted to your own preferences to fit where you are in your life now!

Hi Angie, I was drawn to your website and blog by discovering your work with Karen posted on the Internet. Is there any chance you will be doing more styling with women in the seventies? As a 72-year-old woman, I would find this very helpful. Emme
