I think privacy matters a lot.The shop owner must keep this thing in mind. Most of the people do not want to try the male dressing rooms. But with the change in thinking style, now gender is not a big issue.

I am coming back to say that I have been in many dressing rooms that are for all (no gender). I suspect we are going to see more of it. For all kinds of reasons not everyone will be comfortable with this. For my part I can be respectful of others` privacy in the dressing room.

I'm with Rachy, Staysfit and Gaylene. I don't see a problem. Men walk around the women's dressing rooms all the time these days. Segregation is not the answer.

I'm a fashion stylist, and I have male clients. I can't help but walk around the mens dressing rooms if I'm to be effective at my job. Male fashion stylists are constantly in the women's dressing area. If we want privacy, we shut the door. Private stalls are good.

Team Rachylou. Of course, I work with young folk, and my children are young adults. Tolerance is a good thing. I have never felt like someone there for their partner is leering at me.

Team rachylou.

Nordstrom makes possible a very customer-friendly option, should the current understanding of gender feel too challenging to adapt to: your SA can gather clothing you'd like to try on, and ring it all up so that you can take it all home to try on in the privacy of your home. If something you'd like to keep needs to be tailored, thus bringing up the privacy issues, well, I have been far happier paying extra for outside tailoring than with Nordstrom's "free" services anyhow. So just choose a tailor that offers the privacy you prefer.

Back in Binaristan, some lingerie boutiques have a lounge area (sometimes just one comfortable chair) for the generally male-identified partner of a binary couple to rest, read a newspaper, perhaps enjoy a coffee and a cake, within consultation distance while the generally female-identified partner is in the fitting room. I've never felt bothered by the presence of another client's partner waiting there.

Agree with Gaylene. I would rather have co-ed with private stalls than open plan and single sex. (Admittedly my reference here is college dorms.)

I'm with Rachylou on this one.

If private space is provided, I honestly can't see the fuss about men and women being in the same area. At 68, I'm not a millennial, but I think the youngsters are dead right in not being fussed by gender. Privacy is good, segregation is not.

Rachylou, I agree, I thought about this too. I am super grateful that we are beyond binary gender. It is shifting and it is a good thing, I think. Just needs to be respectfully managed by stores.

I just help my husband pick things to try on, then I let him decide if it 'fits' or not. No amount of criticism or advice from me is going to hangers his opinion about a garment so I save my energy lol

I hope you find suitable places to shop!

Kevin I so agree. I stand outside the dressing room in the men's section and my husband comes out to model. Even when there are nice wooden doors and total privacy I do not even go to the tailoring area inside the changing area. I think it's insensitive. Do know some women's changing areas are abysmal too.

Based on another post found here--I'm GLAD to hear women have the reverse problem. I'm really tired of women showing up in the men's dressing area where changing rooms have little privacy due to the huge gaps between the doors and walls of each room. Stores like Nordstrom routinely allow female sales associates into the men's changing areas. Tired of this! Now I'll only shop at stores where changing rooms offer real privacy, or that don't allow women into the mens changing area. Yes, men want privacy too!
