Ugh. I had every intention of going for a run tonight. I get home to a water leak resulting in buying a new hot water heater, having no water over dinner which meant no cooking, and not having anyone to watch my boys so I could go run. Tomorrow I shall take clothes to work with me and do it before I get my boys and go home!

And, now I will get off the computer and do some strength exercises....

My two cents worth is to weigh yourself every day. If I gain a pound or two I treat it like 10 so it doesn't come creeping back up. Am I obsessive about it? Yes. But this is what works for me. Kudos to all of us for losing and maintaining our weight. It ain't easy.

shana-
If you know that you crave certain thing, can you plan alternatives that will hit that taste spot, but in a more calorie friendly way? Like if you know that ice cream sundaes are your thing- stock pre-portioned kid version, or diet versions. That way you can enjoy it and get the taste without blowing your loss. For me, if it isn't already in the house at that point, I am most likely going to revert to the old standy.

Everyone is doing so well, I'm jealous!! To be honest, I am heading in the opposite direction. Life has gotten a bit more stressful lately and I am compensating for it by eating! I'm trying to keep up with the working out but it's been tough lately.

Does anyone have any tips for dealing with salt & food cravings just before TTOM? Sometimes I feel that I undermine a whole month's progress in just 1 week! And I'm not just talking about water weight that you shed after either (though I get plenty of that too).

I had a thrilling morning. I lost 2 lbs which for me is huge since I've been holding steady after having lost my initial 8 lbs. I am especially thrilled since my current health situation prevents me from working out last week and probably most of this week. I think my metabolism is finally kicking in.

Maya- you know daily weighing might actually be a better way to go for you. You will learn pretty quickly what your normal fluctuations are, and be able to see a downward trend through that, rather than having just one or two pictures a month.
Way to go rute!
Michelle and Marianna- any loss is a good loss, keep it up ladies!
Chelle- good for you I bet that felt nice.
Whoever gets online first can start a daily thread for support.
I'm all in- this week should be a little less stressful for me.
Michelle- my daily goals are usually to stay within my calorie range, drink at least 8 glasses of water, and get in some kind of exercise. What area is lacking that you need to concentrate on more? Maybe you can make a goal for that area.

I'm in, too! I will give it my all this week and would love extra check-ins to keep me on track.

I'm another Olympics obsessee, with a definitely preference for winter games. (I'm an lifelong figure skating fanatic, somewhat embarrassingly.) Michelle, I just mentioned in my other thread about yesterday's game- I'm still on a high from it! My heart was in my throat for the last period, when they tied it I nearly cried! Awesome game played by all.

So, back to matters at hand- what kind of goal were you thinking? Making healthy choices all day long, or paying extra-close attention to portion sizes? How about going for a long walk with Reva after work?

I'm not my usual decisive self today... Can someone help me set a goal for the day? I'm just feeling very tremulous and incapable at the moment.
Sarah, winter games are my overall fave too, but maybe that's the canadian in me. Did you watch the game yesterday?

Vani, I'm a HUGE Ripped Fan (instructor Jari Love). She's amazing. If you have never done weights before, start with her first DVD "Get Ripped". I have eight of her workouts, and love them. Bryan does them with me, too. Feel free to PM me if you have more questions.
Her most recent workouts include high intensity cardio with heavier lifting.
Anyway, I'm in 110% too. Shall we do a daily check-in just this week? (I don't want this to overpower YLF.)
I'm limited on my workouts per doctor's orders, but even that is not an excuse.
Michelle, the Olympics are a favorite at our house, too. We love the summer games for the running events, but over all the winter games are my favorite. The passion that these athletes have for their sport always rubs off on me.

Way to go, ladies!

My success this past week is I went out and pounded the pavement! I did a run/walk over the weekend. I ended up running 2 miles (plus walking extra) which is good for me, considering I haven't ran since Thanksgiving. It felt so good, and is giving me motivation to run again.

This week my focus is going to be exercise. I want to get out and run or do strength training at home at least 4 times.

A combination of pre-birthday afternoon tea and being housebound for 2.5 days does not bode well for me. I offset it by having a salad and vegetable soup for dinner, but I doubt it worked. The scone itself was probably 600 calories! Having such a small calorie allowance is really hard and frustrating. I have not weighed in, but I had to loosen the belt Angie gave me, so...not good.

I don't do weekly weigh-ins since I am trying to loose slowly and only a small amount. Checking weekly would drive me batty. Probably bimonthly is best. Since I am not going to lose a lot and it will take me a long time to do so, it's hard for me to determine what is just normal fluctuation and what is a genuine loss that sticks.

I still have the YLF birthday forthcoming, and again, it's tea! I need to carefully consider what I order.

This motivational talk is exactly what I need. I had a minimal loss of 0.2 pounds this week, which is almost more frustrating than stayin put or gaining. I've only lost 0.6 pounds over the past two weeks, and that makes me want to tear my hair. I too want to step it up and maintain a solid weight loss pace, because like others I'm motivated by my own success.

I was actually musing on the irony of my lame numbers, since I spent the past two weeks immersed in the Olympics (one of my favourite events to watch ever, and especially this time since it was on my home turf). The Olympics have been a great crutch to lean on in a time when I've been battling my own emotions, and I need to find something else to fill the void now that they're over. I'm hoping renewed vigour on the weight loss front and maybe some stepped up exercise can do it, but I confess I'm skeptical at the moment.

Sorry guys, I didn't mean to get all emotional on you here.

Marianna, a pound is nothing to sneeze at. I'd be ecstatic with a pound lost. And Khris, congrats on your amazing loss over the month, especially during a stressful time. Sarah, you've been doing wonderfully well and maintaining the status quo in a difficult phase is just as much of an accomplishment as losing.

Sarah, I'm in your boat. I have not lost, but I'm not overly bothered. Far more important to me, I'm FINALLY feeling 100% again after being sick for much of the last 3 weeks. Plus, I'm not working too many days this week, so I'm taking the opportunity to get back into my normal running/working out schedule. Hopefully that will kickstart a bit of loss for me, and I can have something better to report next Monday!

Marianna, I've had a tough few weeks and have definitely turned to food as a bandaid of sorts. I haven't gained, but I haven't lost. I'm using the "I can't workout" as an excuse, but I was reminded recently, that excuses are only hurting myself further.
Let's you and I have a rocking week this week and give it 110%. I'm motivated by my own success. What motivates you?
I was SO inspired by the Olympics, especially my favorite athlete of the games, Apolo Ohno. He said regardless of the outcome, he was satisfied with his performance, because he left everything out on the ice every single time.
I'd love to feel satisfied with my efforts, so I like to set mini challenges whether it's a day or a week.
I'm currently going without all white sugar for Lent, and it's TOUGH. But Easter will be here before I know it, so I have something to look forward to in order to get me through this.
Hang in there. You're so worth it, Marianna.

I'm down another pound, but I had a really rough week so I'll take it. I had to attend a funeral and deal with all that this week, and I ate too much due to stress. But a pound lost is a pound lost...

But, I really need to step it up in March because I could be doing better.

Happy Monday morning ladies!
It's weigh in time again. I am down 1 pound for the week, and in a stressful week like this, I will take that. Since it's the first Monday of the month, I also measure myself and compare to last month. I am down 8 pounds for the month, and I have lost one inch on my bust and waist, and two inches on my hips.
How is everyone else doing?
