Shiny- I'm glad to see you back here I really admire your realistic approach.

We are having oeen of my favorite "cook in bulk and freeze" meals for dinner- meat pies. I saute whatever veggies i have around (this time it's potatos, celery, carrots and onion) then I brown some ground turkey and add the veggies back in. I add my homemade veggie broth and cook until it is all absorbed and then chill it in the fridge overnight. The next day, I thaw some Pillsbury pie crusts (the kind that come rolled up), cut them into quarters and fill them with the meat/veggie mix. I seal the side first, fill and then fold over the end. I cook them at 350 degrees until they are golden brown. They are great fresh from the oven, but once they have cooled I put them in a single layer on a baking tray and into the freezer without being covered until they are frozen solid. At that point I can toss them all in a big ziploc bag and they won't stick to each other. A minute in the microwave makes a tasty lunch for about 400 calories.

Marianna- you're still doing great. You've managed to loose and deal with the stress. You're learning new patterns, and that takes time.

Jennifer- I think that information that you're getting is so important to learn from. Even though you gained- you have learned a lot!

Jennifer26, don't let a pound get you down if you can help it. It definitely sounds like you're taking the right steps to turn things around. That weight watcher tracker is great isn't it? I find it's hard to slip too much when you're logging things in a program like that. Good luck with the rest of your goals this week!

Wooohooo! Well done, Khris! *High Five*. Stepping on the scale each day is a method that I personally believe works best.

Another woohooo for Marianna and Michelle! That’s GREAT news. You are both so, so on track. Big well done hugs from me, Rosie and Jasmine.

Congrats on the tracking (and the new pants). My week had its ups and downs.
First, the downs, according to the scale, I'm up 1.3 pounds from last week.

Now the ups, I restarted my exercise program (cycling and yoga), and tracked everything on weight watchers last week. It was amazingly helpful to see how the exceptions piled up (I totally maxed out my extra points allowance and kept going), and how portion sizes have crept up as well. As a result, it gave me some great feedback on what I need to do to feel healthier and actually have the scale move in the opposite direction.

So, my goals for this week are to plan and prepare healthier lunches (ideas appreciated), cut out/minimize sugar (with a xmas eve dinner and day exception), weigh/measure portion sizes at dinner, and keep exercising.

I also wanted to say how much I appreciate the members of the forum and the accountability and support it provides.

Although having a rough start to the week, I buckled down the past couple of days and still managed to lose 1 pound. I am relieved I didn't gain anything. I think being constantly on my feet and running around helped burn off some of the unnecessary calories I ate in the first part of the week.

So I'm at 5 lbs lost so far, which is great!

I am mentally preparing myself to really take the bull by the horns starting January 1st. I feel like I am not putting 100% effort into this right now. Starting Jan 1 I either want to join WW or start some kind of formal program/diet.

I actually have to go out for dinner tonight with two of my oldest friends; it's a sendoff for one of them who's about to take a job in Africa. We're going for thai food, and I'm going to have a steamed salmon dish with lime, chillies and vegetables with a bit of steamed rice. Lunch is a ground chicken and white bean chili. If I were at home tonight, I'd likely be eating a spicy asian-style stir fry with flank steak that I prepared a large batch of last night. That's what Corey took for lunch. It's super flavourful and contains a ton of vegetables, including fun ones like shiitake mushrooms and bamboo shoots!

Had a good week, though I don't know if I lost any weight, since I only started consistently weighing myself again. According to the trend analysis on calorie-count, I'm neither gaining or losing this week, so that is good.

The tools have determined it'll take me until October to get back to my goal, at a rate of 0.25 lbs per week. It has to be that slow, because I can't go under 1200 calories. Realistically, that's the pace I lost it before.

I think I've been in denial - so time for total honesty!

I kept a detailed journal before. I now weigh what I weighed in March '07, 9 lbs up from my goal weight achieved in Oct '07. I stopped tracking in Dec '07. So it's taken me from Dec '07 to Dec '09 - exactly two years - to regain 9 lbs. The GOOD news is... I have not regained ALL the weight I lost.... I am nipping it in the bud before that happens.

It really doesn't take much, just slightly higher portion sizes, an extra glass of wine, handful of chips here and there, etc. I'm bummed because I do not want to track calories in this much detail for the rest of my life. However, I am also trying to think positively - even if I shave just five of these extra lbs, I'll be happy, as I'll be back within my "+/-5 lbs" range. That should be doable by spring/early summer.

I have minestrone simmering in the crockpot for dinner tonight.... what's everyone else having for dinner?

You know, I managed to loose quite a bit of weight through the holidays last year. It's a real world opportunity to test out your new skills. I step on the scale every single day, and it really is helpful to me. I actually look forward to it most days. It's a tangible result for efforts that are not always easy to see.

Good Monday Morning!
It's weigh in time again. I am down two pounds from last week. I got rid of the menstrual bloat and did really well with my tracking this week. I also ordered some pants in the next size down, which I was having a weird mental block against (but needed).
How was everyone else's week?
