YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! Congrats Marianna and Michelle on a great first week! You did so well.

Khris, I'm sure it's just some extra water. Plus you've been doing so well for so long, one bad week isn't such a big deal.

VC, congrats to you as well. Seriously, anyone who can lose more than 1 pound in a week is amazing in my book.

Jennifer26, congrats to you as well - you can do it!

Well done VC and good luck Jennifer26. Shiny, best of luck to you too.

Hi all,

Thanks so much for starting this. Sorry for not checking in last week, I was out of the country, which means that, super yuk, the scale is at the highest it has been in the last 10 months. Now for the good news, I rejoined WW today, and made sure that I took the time to get everything I ate today entered in. I also now have an overall weight loss goal, 26 pounds, and an initial goal of 8 pounds. I'm going to ask my live-in technical support to help with a pic (and another goal will be to get that posted by the next weigh in day).

Congrats to all on their losses and appreciations to everyone for sharing (up and down).

Rute and Shiny...I am also over 40 and, in fact, dangerously close to 50. I realize you were joking, but in all seriousness, Shiny, I had a "talk" with myself when I was 40 because I felt like I was at a crossroads of "giving up and not caring" or fighting the entire aging thing tooth and nail. I decided to fight, and I have not thrown in the towel yet! I had rather big weight fluctuations when I was younger (I think not unlike what Marianna has described), but seem now to better understand what works for me. It's definitely easier to gain at this age, and harder to lose, so I monitor to make sure things don't get out of control. God only knows what menopause will bring! All of it is easier said than done, that's for sure, and, for me, as long as maintaining a healthy weight is a priority, I have to be vigilant.

Wow - facing the music - and there's some really good music going on in here!

I'm down 2.8 pounds for the week. Thrilled about it too, because I don't lose weight so easily at this point. Yay!

Huge round of applause to everyone - just amazing! And Khris, I went up last week for the same reasons. Totally temporary and I'd like to 'second' shiny's suggestion of plotting this out. I've been recording my weight on an old-fashioned paper calendar, and it has really helped to see things like, "Oh yeah, well it's that TOM again". It's actually reassuring, because then I am not second-guessing myself or my efforts in the weight-loss dept.

Khris, try plotting your weight on a TTOM scale... helps you see what fluctuations are normal for you!

Rute - 44 here, and I totally hear you! Sometimes I wonder, when am I allowed to just give up and not care anymore? :-(

Marianna - 4 lbs - woo hoo!

Michelle, wow - 5.8?? That's awesome. Hooray for WW. It is a great program.

Alright so.... I have no idea what I weigh. I've been in complete denial, and I don't want to get near the scale, because I know if it's bad, it will mess with my head right now and discourage me. I know it's going to be bad, because the other day I put on my favorite COH Hutton jeans - the ones that have always felt so comfy, like wearing sweat pants - and I was miserable! They were TOO TIGHT. They looked fine while standing, but forget sitting down in them. Oh no. NOT good!

So, I am back to calorie counting.

Angie, I absolutely feel this is sustainable. I find WW to be structured without being restrictive. The fact that it's firmly rooted in real life helps a lot; no foods are tabooed, there's a small cushion to cover you if you're not able to control your point intake to the degree you want etc. Because I had success on the program before, I knew exactly what to do and haven't found it hard to get back in the swing of things. The fact that I like cooking helps; coming up with new things to eat is an enjoyable challenge for me.
I know the rate of weight los will slow down after the first couple of weeks, and I'm ok with that. I'd rather lose the weight in a healthy manner than go on some absurd crash diet that will see me put it all back in weeks. Besides, this program is all about introducing lifestyle changes, and that approach works for me.

Angie,

Brian hasn't weighed in yet... I'll make him get on the scale this evening. He really doesn't have that much weight to lose so I don't think he's taking this as seriously as he was in the beginning. His motivation has definitely slipped already.

I should be okay throughout the holiday season as I don't have much going on. I'm not home to eat my grandma's greasy delicious fried latkes for Hanukkah, so I'm skipping that feast all together. I'm going home in a few weeks though, and that's where I usually run into the most trouble because my mom loves to feed me... and I love to eat. :o) We'll see how it goes. I'm feeling pretty strong though.

Wooohooo! Well done Michelle and Marianna! That's brilliant! I’m proud of you! This is the way to approach a feast of holiday eating. This must give you such energy and motivation to continue. Happy dance! Ladies, do you feel like you can carry on like this for a while?

Well done to Corey too. How did your boyfriend do, Marianna?

Well done Rute and no worries, Khris. I don’t know why it is, but I have friends that gain 5 pounds when it’s TTOTM. Crazy. I’m sure that pound will be off tomorrow.

Sarah I hope your changes pay off. I did something to my back, and I tried to ignore it and went to the gym yesterday anyway and now I am paying the price. I won't be working out at all this week.

Fabulous job, ladies! I'm so proud of all of you. Weight loss is HARD work, but it is so worth it.
I agree Marianna, four pounds will probably be noticable because you typically lose first where you gain last. Faces are usually the first to "go".
And Michelle, wow! Great reward for your efforts.
And Khris, I'm with you. The closer I get to my goal the harder it is to lose weight. I tweaked my diet last week and am adding a second work out most days again. We'll see if this can't get me on the losing train again.

I lost 4 pounds this week!

This was my first week truly putting forth effort and it paid off. There were a few days where I clearly overate and/or made bad choices, but I tried to compensate by eating better at the next meal or the next day.

Oddly enough, two people at work already told me that I look smaller. I'm not sure why because 4 pounds is not noticeable on my frame, but whatever, it was nice to hear!
