Way to go Khris (and everyone else)! To drop any weight at all with all the holiday temptations is really impressive!

I stepped on the scale this weekend and to my horror, I have gained 5 lbs since earlier this fall!! Yikes! That's alot when you're only 5' tall. That's pretty much the size that I lost earlier in the summer. Though I have been managing my joint pain, I found out in November that the awful sciatic pain that I had since September was actually a bulging disk in my back!! I was practically immobile from the pain for a couple of weeks in November when it got really bad and have slowly been trying to get back into the gym to at least spend a half hour on the elliptical. Unfortunately, I have not been able to attend any of my favorite classes like pilates, yoga etc and have not done any weights or strenuous cardio. And of course, I haven't stepped foot in the gym for the last three weeks and it shows.

I don't think I can get back to my usual gym routine for at least another couple of months (at least). In the meantime, I've decided that I probably need to clean up my diet. In the past, I just relied on exercise and just ate whatever I wanted. If I found myself up a few pounds, I would just work out like mad. But obviously this will no longer work.

For now, the plan is to start small. I am a sweets addicts (especially chocolate - curse my brother for giving me a gigantic box of Godiva for xmas). So I'm going to try and cut down on sweets & coke and also try to eat more fruits and veggies. I made some baggies with sliced bell pepper, carrots etc so that I can reach for these instead of cookies when my sweet tooth beckons. Hopefully this will help!

Thank you Chewyspaghetti. All of you are an inspiration to me. After reading some of your earlier posts I committed to getting serious about reversing my weight gain of this last year. My choice was either do it or buy new clothes--not an option at the moment. I need to report to someone (and not my husband.)

Kim, I totally feel your pain about the fear of stepping on the scale, but props to you for doing it, and kudos to you for not actually gaining anything!
Sihaya, welcome to the club! Feel better soon.

Good news! I survived the hardest of the holidays for me (NYE) with a 2.6 pound weight loss this week. I'm *very* happy with this.

I'm really ready to start losing weight seriously this month. I feel like I've been lackluster about it thus far but I am ready now.

Khris congrats. I am still holding steady at my ~6 lbs total weight loss. I would like to lose another 10lbs. However, I have been pretty sick. And when I am sick, I can't move (literally) so nothing else happens. I have to get back on carbs in order to keep food down so I don't throw up and working out of course is out of the question. I am now over the worst and am only left with stomach problems and a nasty head cold. So I'm hoping that by end of this week, I can be ready to work out again. It will be 3 weeks since my last workout by then so I'm sure I'll have to start further back but I'm super motivated to continue. My hope is to also measure myself next week and set some goals on dimensions. Thanks for keeping the check in's going.

Khris, it is great to be back! I'd been hectically busy the last few weeks entertaining house guests non-stop. Florida is a popular destination for my friends and family when it starts getting cold in the rest of the country

Vani- I had been wondering where you had been. It's great to have you aboard!

Michelle- you're doing awesome! I think that it helps to have some sort of milestone markers along the way. When I first started, I had my long term weight loss goal (to loose 100 pounds), and then several mini goals. I am just about to hit my third mini goal of getting my BMI under 30 (which I want to do by my birthday on the 14th), and then I have one more mini goal to pass before getting to goal weight (along with monthly goals, of course).

queenie it's great that you faced your fear- and it wasn't as bad as you thought. I have been using the Wii quite a bit, and since that is working for me right now, I am going to stick with it.

Wow! 4 lbs over the holiday is an awesome achievement. Congratulations Khris!
I had been rather slack with weight loss efforts all of last year even though I had been moaning and whining about my weight. I lost an aunt suddenly a few weeks ago, and that was quite the wake up call for me. She was young and quite healthy apart from a mild case of sciatica and her passing was quite unexpected, even to her family. It hit me how short life is. The plan is to dive right into working out and eating clean. I will be participating in these weekly weigh ins regularly now in. Bless you for doing this

Great job, Khris!! That's really fabulous!
I'm down one pound on the dot since my last weigh-in on Dec. 21. Overall I'm pleased, considering that time period included several days off plan. At least I didn't lose my way altogether. I've lost a total of 8.8 pounds since starting this process about a month ago (Dec. 7).

I've been thinking of short and long-term goals today, too, and here's what I want to accomplish:

By next week's weigh-in, I want to have hit the 10 pound mark.
My birthday is in five weeks, and by then I would like to be north of 15 pounds, ideally closer to 20. Anything in that range will be ok with me.

My long-term goal is more ambitious and also more general. I have a slew of weddings to attend this year, including one in June and one in July. My goal is to go to at least one of these functions wearing a non-plus-size dress.

That is awesome Khris! 4 pounds over the month of December is fabulous (4 pounds in any month is fabulous!) You are doing an amazing job. Can't wait to see you in September Keep up the good work.

I hadn't been on a scale in weeks, and with fear and trepedation stepped on first thing this morning. I was actually shocked that I hadn't gained anything over the month. If anything I"m down a pound or 2. (it was probably muscle loss though, as I haven't been to the gym or done anything physical other than lifting a fork to my mouth in 2 weekis). So now I must get myself back to the gym and back on track in the working out department.

Good Monday Morning!
Well, the holidays are over and it's time to see how we did. I am actually really happy with myself for the month. I am down 4 pounds from last week (and ironically also 4 pounds for the month since my weight has been up and down so much), and I have lost two inches from both my waist and hips this month. If you don't measure yourself, you might want to start. I do it on my first weigh in each month, and it's really interesting, and another good way to see progress.
I've reevaluated my goals, and I want to reach goal weight by September. In order to do that, I need to loose 5 pounds a month. I can totally do that, I just need to not loose focus.
How is everyone else doing this morning?
