This is a great idea, I have a couple of pre pregnancy pieces which I will never fit into (my ribcage expanded) which I will put up for swap in the new year! Thanks Kris.

I like the idea of having a "holding area" for things that are a bit too big/small. Things that you love of course, not just everyday items. Put them in a box thats not in your main wardrobe. That way if things go up or down you have one go-to item aready, but you don't have to see it every day to remind you of what you aren't.

I'm a firm believer in only keeping in your wardrobe what fits. Lst year after loosing a stone i culled everything which was too big. My friend who lost 2 stone at the same time didn't. She has put all the weight back on because as she gained a bit she just wore the bigger clothes. I don't bother weighing myself anymore but i know if my skinnies get a bit tight i need to lay off the junk for a few weeks x

Edit on the flip side i also think this applies to smaller clothes if you are happy at your size. When i was about 18 i got down to an english 12 (now 14) and those clothes all went when i put weight on. I think it will do nothing for self confidence to have clothes too small.

Fathenry's post about half her closet being too small motivated me to survey my chaotic closet and get rid of the clutter. So last night I looked through my wardrobe and put together a bag full of *very* nice barely worn clothes that are too small. I have two Anthropologie sweaters that I bought years ago... they're both way too tight. I have a pair of KUT jeans in a size 14 that I bought when I was much smaller, had them shortened... and the tailor made them way too short, very sad. I have never worn them and have held on to them for a while, but now they're going to go. I also have this great Juicy Couture tunic (it doesn't look trashy) that I bought not too long ago, but it's way too tight and not flattering... so that will go too. It's sad, but therapeutic at the same time. Hopefully I get a little money by selling it to a resale shop.

I definitely need to do this Khris - thank you for the suggestion. I've done it just once or twice, but once again - most of the things in my closet are somewhat ill-fitting.

This is a really good place to start your weight loss journey- take inventory of your closet and put away anytyhing that does not currently fit. I've been doing this regularly through my weight loss and getting rid of the bigger stuff, so my closet all fits ok right now. When you're having a rough day, or feeling defeated from time time- it's nice to be able to pull somthing together form your closet knowing that it fits. As you loose weight, you may have to get rid of items because they are too big- and that's a great feeling. This is just another way to face reality, and give you a measurable milestone. The fit of your clothes is a great tool to use for weight loss.
