Vani, I don't have local farmers market open right now (cold weather) but there are some ethnic produce markets that I have completely forgotten about... and the produce is considerably cheaper there. That's a good idea. Thanks!

Marianna, do you have a farmer's market within reasonable driving distance? I'm lucky to have a local store open 5 days a week selling only local and organic produce. I can fill two of those big reusable bags with veggies and fruits and pay about 30% less for 40% more produce than I would at the grocery store. I stock up every weekend. When your refrigerator is bursting with fresh produce it is hard not to be inspired to try new recipes. Then there is the added motivation to use it all up before it goes bad. We are lucky to have a refrigerator at work too, so I bring in salad fixings, fruit and snacks like yogurt on Monday to last me through the week. With a little effort and planning you will be able to brown bag it everyday even if you don't have a refrigerator or microwave access at work.

Khris, thanks. I may send you a PM. I don't eat super processed junk, but I'm finding myself eating unbalanced meals. I don't have any real "food" in the refrigerator so I'm eating toast with cheese, or oatmeal for a meal, stuff like that. I'm basically eating a mass amount of carbs because I can't afford much else at the moment. My boyfriend has been good about buying me dinners once in a while (like we had sushi a few nights ago) but most days I'm eating pure carbs... and I hate it. I'm one of those people that loses weight better with a bit less carbs in my diet. And I'm totally not eating enough vegetables.

Oh, and Subway has become my friend. Walking distance from my apartment, and cheap... but again, more bread! Gah.

Good going everyone. Sarah, you're an inspiration.

Michelle, take care of yourself and rest well. That is most important.
Workout-wise my week has been a bust. Putting in long hours at work is causing me to go to bed late since I'm so wired up from all the stress. And then I cannot get myself out of bed early enough in the morning. I've been very good with my eating and have not registered much gain even with TTOM. So though I'm not happy not being able to workout, I'm not disappointed either. I made cupcakes and frosting for a bridal shower potluck at work yesterday and am very proud to say I did not eat any. Well, except for a bite, to taste-test I have to say I'm also having the crampiest TTOM in a long time. Uggh.

I ran again. I'll count it as a plus since exercise is my focus. I probably ate more than I should've at dinner though. I tried a new recipe that I liked, but wasn't low in calories.

Marianna- it's so true. Well, actually it's sort of true. If you are talking about processed foods at all- the "healthy" version is almost always quite a bit more expensive. But the good news is that you can make almost all of those processed foods from scratch for much cheaper and in healthier ways. There are also ways to get the healthier processed foods for considerably less than the shelf price. You know I am the queen of budget shopping- and that apples to grocery shopping as well. If you want any help figuring out ways to trim the budget or alternatives- send me a private message. I may have some ideas for you.

I had an ok day yesterday. I wasn't feeling all that great, so I didn't exercise (which just made me feel worse), but I ate pretty well. Then at 11pm last night, hubby decided that we needed to try this new fastfood burger, so he went and got two- and fries to share. I was so hungry at that point, that I didn't care (PMS). Of course, my weight is up 2 pounds today.

I'm doing okay. I'm starting to understand why the poorest people are often the fattest. It's HARD to eat well on a tight budget.

But, as a whole I'm doing well. I can't complain. I'm not overeating, I'm exercising, and I'm motivated.

Feel better, Michelle!

Aw, I hope you feel better Michelle. Part of getting healthy is taking care of yourself when you're sick and making sure you get plenty of rest.
I did great again on Wednesday. I worked out twice during the day for a total of about 50 minutes. I'm itching to get back into things, but I don't want to push it too much.
I'm down only 2 ounces from yesterday, but it's that TTOM so I'm assuming that's part of my "problem".
Calories were good - I got hungry after my afternoon snack/before dinner so I had some raisins and triscuits. But it could have been worse I suppose.

I think your focus today has to be to take care of yourself, forget points and diets. Drink lot of fluids, rest and eat when you can. I hope you are feeling better tomorrow.

Just getting the ball rolling. Sounds like everyone has been ore than meeting the 110% challenge set earlier in the week! Was Wednesday another good day?

The plague rages on unabated. I thought I was on the mend yesterday, but I felt worse throughout the day and woke up this morning confirmed in my fear that I'd lost some ground. I had to come into the office this morning to write an article (news deadlines are unforgiving), but I'm off to the doctor's office now and then home to my homemade soup and my bed. And Corey, who also has the bug now. :)

I ate a little more yesterday than I did the day before, but I'm still well shy of my point target. Not sure whether that's a good thing or not right now. Ordinarily it wouldn't be, but I don't want to force myself to eat when I'm not hungry! Got Reva out for a short walk, too, which may have been premature but was necessary for her.
