You know, I am not part of your fabulously successful group, but when Lent started, I decided to give up something, which I've never done before. It was either wine or chocolate, and I felt it would be easier to survive without wine than my beloved chocolate.

Can you believe that I've lost weight simply for that fact? Going out to eat, I am not tempted by the bread basket or dessert, it's so much easier to stick to your good intentions when you don't have the glass of wine loosening up your inhibitions. The whole experience has been a pleasant surprise, and it started with one small change.

May I join too? I am trying to lose a bit of weight which I have never had to do in my life. A couple of pregnancies and changing metabolism as I age have wreaked a little havoc. Then there is my diet. Living in France for 10 years has seen me starting to eat cream, pastry, butter and occasionally meat and fish - all things which I didn't eat when I was at home. I have pulled my socks up in the last two weeks, including 30mins on a step machine every day. So far no change, but I am hoping it will start soon...

Wow Marianna - you go girl!!!

Can I join in this thread too? I've been such a slacker lately but this week I finally went to a (hot) yoga class. It was great and I was sore for days. Planning on going back tomorrow!

Today I went to markets and bought some fresh produce. I have been very lazy so far in cooking since I've moved to Melbourne. All I've made it homemade pizza and salads. Eeep! Small steps but I have bought some couscous, veggies and chicken sausages to cook up tomorrow.

Sorry, late to the thread!

Finally went grocery shopping today and bought loads of healthy foods! So I'm all set! Yesterday and today have been good, and my beloved Paige Premium jeans are getting too big on me: http://i985.photobucket.com/al.....G_3442.jpg

... a little bit louder and a little bit worse!

Oops, sorry. Many years of summer camp have ingrained it, I guess

I am doing loads better this week as I've been for two good runs so far. I try to run every other day so now I'm looking at Sunday for the next one, which may or may not happen because I work and I know I'll be exhausted after. As for food, it's frustrating. I'll make good choices and pay attention to portion sizes, then ruin it all with a frenzied snack attack with too much sugar and carbs. I'm trying not to worry too much, as I really want to get back into regular exercise before I really focus on my diet. Baby steps!

I would let how you feel dictate what you eat. You still may not want to eat much, but if you have a craving you might want to indulge. I think that if we listen, our bodies will tell us what they need.

Actually, I want your take on how I should approach the weekend. Ordinarily when you don't use your full points target on WW, you put it in a points bank and are free to combine it with your flex points for extras as the week progresses. I've undereaten every day this week, sometimes drastically. Obvioiusly I'm not banking all these points, and if I ate them all over the weekend I'd be looking at an obscene amount of food... But my thinking is I should at least try to make up some ground on the weekend and am relatively free in terms of my food choices. Would you agree with that, or have I got it all wrong?

I'm also hoping to walk to and from my hairdresser's tomorrow, which would be a two-mile trip, assuming the weather cooperates and I'm feeling strong enough. Can probably do another slightly shorter walk Sunday if the same factors are in place.

This weekend is going to be hard for me. Tonight, I have to take dd straight form dance class to a sleepover at a friend's house, which will leave me no time to cook dinner. Since dd isn't going to be here to eat, I decided that we can just eat some frozen leftover pizza for dinner and I have already logged that into my calories for the day. Tomorrow we have to go down the hill for ds's therapy group in the morning, then get back up here to pick dd up from her sleepover. We will spend the rest of the day cleaning the house, so I pulled some meatballs out of the freezer so that I can have an easy dinner. Sunday we are having ds's birthday party. We're serving lunch to the kids (not sure what that will be yet), and cake/ice cream, then taking them to a movie. My SIL and her son and his father will be up here, so we will probably end up having dinner out with them. I'm trying to eat as low as I can on the meals that I can control so that the extra calories won't do me in. I won't have time to get any workouts in over the weekend, either. I'm just about to start my period, too, so I won't be surprised if I don't show a loss for this week- even if I do really well.

I did okay. I ate a bit more than I should have (TTOM), and no work out. I had about an hour of xrays yesterday (on the table) for my low back and that took a lot out of me, not to mention I was really sore afterwards. I took the evening off and just relaxed.
I plan on going for a walk this evening with Bryan. It's kind of fun because we can catch up on our day together and plan for things. Whereas when we run, we have our iPods plugged in and I'm too winded to talk.
We are not going to go out to eat over the weekend - this is usually where I lose forward progress from the week. I have the meals planned out already, and we have nothing planned so the workouts will get done.
Does everybody else have plans for getting throught the weekend?

So? How's everyone doing today? Sounds like it was continuing good work yesterday!!

As for mee...Second verse, same as the first. It was another flu-tastic day, so not much to report on. I'm still sick today, but starting to get the first faint signs that the tide may be turning. I certainly hope so, because I'm restless and bored now!
