Technically other researchers and I outrank her, it is just that her position is permanent while our is temporary. My real boss is both very smart and very kind. He has hired the lab manager to deal with various technical aspects of running the lab, such as ordering supplies etc. Part of her job is to ensure the lab complies to various regulations and she sometimes takes that too far. </p> <p>Chiara, unfortunately, our office space is the same as our lab space, our desks are at the end of the bench. Both are my easy summer formula of cropped jeans, pretty top and trendy shoes.&nbsp; The Tuesday outfit consists of cropped BR released hem jeans, BR white tunic and Charles David white ankle strap mini wedges. The Wednesday outfit is based on cropped white Loft jeans, with silk-cotton ruffled pineapple blouse ( a Rack find)and my blush lace-ups by Jeffrey Campbell.</p> <p>On Tuesday something incredibly annoying happened: We already have a very restrictive lab dress code that requires long pants and closed toe shoes. Most of the labs in my work place do not enforce it and believe that the researchers have enough common sense to know when to cover up, but my lab does enforce them.&nbsp; Our lab manager (who loves enforcing rules more than anything else) informed me that my white shoes are breaking the dress code.&nbsp; I was perplexed and said so considering that the shoes have covered toes, and was promptly explained that new version of the rules involves shoes that completely cover the feet, including tops and sides.&nbsp; So no ballet flats or anything else of the kind.&nbsp; Pretty much the only non-boot shoes that are allowed are oxfords and sneakers. I was very angry at first, especially considering that I have worked at this place for 6 years and my closed toed shoes were fine so far, not to mention that trendy shoes are my signature and main way to refresh my wardrobe.&nbsp; I am quite aware that this change is completely arbitrary, but our lab manager has lots of power and there is no&nbsp; arguing with her.&nbsp; Once I cooled down I decided to wear my normal shoes to and from work, and keep a pair of light toned oxfords&nbsp; (attached in Finds) in the lab to change into for whenever she is around.&nbsp; Luckily my internship starts soon so for at least half of the time I won't have to deal with this.&nbsp; It is still incredibly annoying though. </p>
