Sharp shoulders, probably double-breasted, to the knee, relatively fitted. (I have owned several similar in past, it's my power look.) With sheer stockings and taupe pumps with heels, neither to be seen again till my term was up.</p> <p>Although, in our Canadian system, I could see myself less in the political-power role of Prime Minister and more in the Governor General role (Queen's viceroy); the previous one reminded me of Halle Berry only more elegant, so quite the sartorial shoes to fill. For that (if ceremonial robes weren't involved) I would go more like my fall-back LBD and coat number, black with subtle sparkle, sheer black hose and heels. And I would overcome my aversion to bling. Black or navy. And since no one before or since has managed to navigate the territory between femininity and masculinity with such aplomb, it would have to be a Chanel tweed suit. Katy Perry has the right idea. I like the severity of the one Stella Tenant is wearing, but would (maybe) skip the coiffure (or is it a hat?). But who am I kidding, if I ever end up as head of state, the circumstances will probably necessitate fatigues and military caps, à la Fidel and Che. ;)</p> <p>Diplomatic visit is hard, because a lot depends on the context — which country, which season, indoor or outdoor, etc. Audrey Tatou’s suit might skew a little too quirky, but I’d be tempted. I like this look of Amal Clooney’s too. And a knee length, single breasted, military style, plain coloured coat that picked out one of the colours of the knit dress. Also a long vintage Chanel necklace.
