I do the dark coat/red hat thing a lot. Easy way to brighten up winter outerwear. You're brave to be out in your sneakers! Even with wool inserts, I think my feet would freeze. We have entirely too much snow here already anyway; no sneakers til spring. And I'm officially adding Parkhurst beret to my wishlist. Been looking at them for years, and you wear yours so well!! You did the best to accessorize this useful, warm piece. However, I see how you could find its shape a little too square on your slender frame. As a Canadian, I know the problem. Yes, a belt would help with the shape, but wouldn't solve everything. First, a floating, added belt with no loops - provided you are able to find one suitable for a puffer -  is very uncomfortable on a coat as we constantly need to open and close it fast. When you want to wear your coat open, what do you do with the belt? A better option is to have a system of hidden strings installed inside to cinch the waist from there.  Then I think that part of your proportion discomfort might come from the footwear. I also like a thin scarf with a puffer - it feels nice and looks good.  You look fab in the beret - I have summer hats sorted but not winter ones!!  I think outside activity when you can in winter is really helpful for SAD.  Even if it is grey it helps the soul. It is cold, grey, and overcast - but dry. We bundled up in our warmest puffers. I have found that I quite like using a silk scarf at the neck of my puffer, and I love my red beret. I have been toying with the idea of wearing a belt with the puffer. Will have to do a style lab.....
