Sara L, Abc, SandyG, Greyscale, Scarlet, Shedev, Kirstjen, Elly, Merwoman, Tulle, Nadya, Firecracker, Caro --

Hi and thanks for the lovely thoughts and well-wishing. Globally endo's so misunderstood, underdiagnosed and just plain missed in surgery by all but a small group of specialists so I feel the need to blather on a bit here. But as my doc is up on best practices I'm hoping for the best going forward.

Don't know how you women who've had with C-sections, hysts, and other surgeries etc don't climb the walls during recovery or chafe at the slow return to normalcy afterward. My (sun)hat's off to you all!

Sara L -- Glad you feel my pain re partners who don't applaud unless they're feelin' it. Mr Vix has been a trouper this past year so he knows he has leeway to snark a bit. [Tulle, I do try to accommodate his prefs if it's a special occasion but otherwise it's fair game. That tunic was by his side this past weekend! And BTW you nailed it with "liberating" re getting a diagnosis.

SandyG -- I plan to boho-ho-ho as much as possible this summer! As Suz inferred upthread, I'm loving seeing this particular flavor of boho everywhere even if I have to start sitting on my wallet.

Scarlet!!! -- Haven't seen you around here in ages, so glad you came in while I was out! I'm have to search and see what you've been up to! My skin is finally showing the results of all the stuff going gluten-free was supposed to do for it, but didn't. Plus I switched up my skincare and makeup and that was a good angle or something. ;)

Caro -- I'm so happy to hear your color analysis has led you to feeling good in "your" shades of color-color! Like you I love my neutral-only outfits but you see what shade I gravitate to when I'm happy. [Speaking of...thanks for the blue support, Nadya and Kirstjen!]

Also glad that mis-matched pattern didn't jump out to you and Ms Expert Sewist aka Firecracker. TBH it was so "me" I forgot to do my due diligence when I purchased and didn't notice til I wore it. Now I'm babying the dang thing since it's cheaply made. [#ridiculous]

You are looking fabulous Vix - so glad some of your health issues are sorted - they are such a drain

Like Firecracker I usually notice those mis-matched patterns but this isn't bad & is more than made up for by the fab colours & fit.

I was thinking about you the other day. I remembered your comment on my colour post, about being a neutrals wearer until you found "your" colours. It seems to be happening to me too. I'm settling into my neutrals & really want to add some non-neutrals to the mix - fun days

It's great to see you, Vix, and you are looking fabulous as ever. I'm so glad to hear that you identified the source of pain and came through surgery well. (I didn't know you were dealing with all this, but glad to hear it came out so well!)
I didn't even notice the imperfect print matching on the skirt, and usually those things jump out at me. The skirt looks so great on you, that's all I saw.
I'm with your hairdresser: love the drapey dress! You wear it beautifully. And your "uniform" is so stylish as well.

Hi all -- Thank you for the warm welcome back!

I know lots of members have chronic health-related wardrobe issues too -- and of course many of us have had to adapt for a time due to injuries, surgeries, pregnancy/postpartum, or Life Stage. It does get complicated!

Elizabeth P, Summer, Shevia, Sterling, Peri -- YES it feels good to finally have taken an action that's made me feel better after years of trying all kinds of lifestyle mods, scopes, and scans on my journey. [$$$ anyone?] Trying to forgive my body for all the years of pain...it was just Lassie-ing me so I wouldn't give up and accept "there's nothing wrong with you" for an answer!

Pil, Suz, Approprio, DonnaT, Jackie, Janet -- Thank you as well, and special thanks for the Diaper Dress love. I will probably wear its Miami Vice self in limited ways and it's rayon so does wrinkle, but life's too short to be practical 100% of the time!

Approprio -- I've lurked here and there and seen some of your cool outfits; looking forward to seeing more!

And of course a special shout out to my body shape/late-diagnosed- endo-survivor twin, Suz.

Janet, a long note to you because my writing was a bit unclear --oh he double L no these pics weren't a few weeks after -- we're talking 3+ months! Mid-40s bounce back = a little slower than I'd hoped. ;)

And I hear you on the post-op (new reality?) swollen stomach.

As I've dealt with that half the month for years now I thought my wardrobe was 90% appropriate for "after." But I couldn't even wear loose pants til recently unless they had a stretch band because when I sat they'd press in down by my hips. The jeans were a milestone. ;)

Accepting that some items may not fit the New Me but giving it more time + physical therapy + core work.

Vix, so nice to see you again, and I'm so glad your surgery was successful! I've been through a similar surgery, and I can't say I looked anywhere near as fab as you in the weeks following (I lived in "soft clothes" that wouldn't rub on my abdominal incisions, plus I had a decent case of swelly belly :-P). You look amazing in all of these photos -- I was prepared not to like the diaper dress from your description, but I think it's terrific on you.

I'm glad you've got your health under control. Best wishes for continued good recovery. I had to laugh at your ferret comment....

I love the diaper dress - wow - uber cool. And the skirts look comfy and stylish at the same time.

Great to see you, Vix, and I am so glad you got the endo diagnosed and dealt with. I, too, had undiagnosed endo some years ago that was discovered in the course of another investigation -- they were amazed I had not complained of it because it was extensive. Well, truth be told, I'd had excruciating pain for years, but had grown used to it and did not like to complain...

On another note, I had been thinking of you -- with all the boho influences this season, it must be a great fashion year for you. You can add a few new items with ease! Love the blue top on you in the first photo.

That "Missoni" type print skirt is a fabulous piece to mix and match. It would be a workhorse for me, too.

What a fantastic skirt. Love both ways you are wearing it.

And welcome back. You must be so happy to have your health issues resolved and be on the mend. It's too bad such extreme measures were needed, but great it was successful.

Hi YLFers --

I'm dipping my toes back into the YLF pond after 6+ months of very limited participation due to intensified health issues that led me to exploratory abdominal surgery this winter -- and finally, an answer to 2 decades of misdiagnosis/pain!*

Feels weird to have the mental and physical energy to think about clothes/style again after quite a while of...not, ha!

I had grand plans to share a few outfits back when I was off work for 2 weeks after surgery but I think that was the meds talking. [ETA So 3+ months later, I dug out the camera....]

Much of the PNW got hot in February, (go figure) but due to budget and all the life goings-on I've just been recycling whatever didn't squash incisions/pressure points.

Unfortunately my "hey I'm jacked up" capsule involves a lot of nondescript, basic modern classic outfits and my dramatic side has been underfed.

I was pretty blah about summer stuff until I found a few new things that made my Persnickety Bohemian side happy. Mixed here with older items.

Thanks for keeping the forum lights on and happy summer to those who celebrate vs roast!

Sparing you the super-bland that's been on the menu more often than not and sharing a few of my ain't dead yet attempts.

****

Photos 1-2: Bluebird of happiness top + knit skirt work for date, weekend, and work. Yes, it bugs me that skirt's print isn't matched in back but for $20 trying to let it go. ;)

Photo 3: Dip dye tunic aka The Diaper Dress + jeans that are photographing darker than IRL...also worn with medium blue denim pencil skirt and cut-offs) Predictably my hairdresser loved this and Mr Vix hated it!

Photo 4: Slightly less staid version of my jersey skirt/dress + cardigan uniform

*Instead of "stress," "gluten intolerance" or a ferret gnawing its way out of my stomach turns out (pathology-confirmed) endometriosis was to blame for many a woe.* So with excision plus a problem-child ovary and appendix gone my quality of life is beyond improved.

Qs? Happy to serve as a resource via PM or refer folks to two closed endo education Facebook groups: Nancy's Nook or Endometropolis.
