I don't think my mother ever wore a pair of lace up shoes of any kind her entire life. She was not athletic, so no sneakers, and the idea of lace up boots would have mystified (or insulted) her, as you say.</p> <p>Myself, I love lace up shoes of every description. She was on my mind because yesterday would have been her 84th birthday. I'm certain my mother would have said that I resemble Olive Oyl. She was from the generation where the statement "your mother wears army boots." was a terrible insult. I take it as a compliment. LOL!! </p>
