I can never wear heels, so I have stocked my closet with fun flats (less than 2 inches in height, and mose of those are wide and square). They are hard to find sometimes, but they are out there :)

I chose to stop wearing heels after i injured my back. The flare ups were a painful reminder of why I needed to fine the beauty in flats.

Thanks for all the support! I'm on my usual mild dose of tramadol for the RA, but also a muscle relaxer and a good amount of ibuprofen too. Still hard to bend over or turn around... I spent basically the entire day yesterday alternating between ice, heat, and a massage chair. It did help some, but it's still difficult to move today. I'm too young for this crap!! *grrr*

Anyway, style-wise this will force me to be more critical of what I'm wearing with flats. Which is a good thing I guess. It's odd to structure an outfit from the shoes up though!

I can't really wear heels above an inch or so, so I am always in flats. I wear oxfords and loafers and (occasionally) ballet flats with skinny pants. I find round or almond toes to be most comfortable, but I have a great pair of pointy-toes black flats for dressier occassions. In winter, I've got a pair of black booties and knee-high leather boots that get worn frequently. The booties with jeans and both with leggings/tights.

I hope you feel better soon!

Oh, I feel for you. Hope your back is feeling good again very soon!
I've been having heel pain again lately (plantar fasciitis), and so I've been trying to choose my shoes very carefully too.
Today I wore skinny pants and oxfords. I normally would have worn the outfit with moto boots, but I chose my very supportive oxfords instead. I wish I had more clothes that went with the oxfords. Yesterday I wore a pair of moto boots with a low heel, and wore my superfeet inserts in them. I try not to wear the same shoes 2 days in a row if I'm having pain.

Ack. I kind of wear the same thing... maybe that's a mistake.

Ugh...so sorry to hear that you two! Back injuries are the worst. Take care!

tr3kkie9rl - I have a bodgy ankle which was reconstructed years ago and once in a while it plays up and I have to stick to low or no heels. Almond or pointy toe flats work well with dresses/skirts - slightly above the knee is probably most flattering but to be honest most of mine are at knee-length and I think this works fine. Pants with any low-heel is a no-brainer too unless the hem-length is a problem but you may be able to get around this with rolling them up slightly. Hope this helps.

Sorry about your back... I hope you feel better very soon.

Yesterday I hurt my foot (a chair fell on it) and it's still sore, so today I've also been moping about not being able to wear fancier footwear. Not that I'm a frequent high-heel wearer, but I do like my pointy shoes with a bit of a lift. I will have to resign myself to my big (and comfy) snow boots.

So, in solidarity...

No heels for me :'( I did something horrific to my back, not sure exactly what, but I think flats are going to be my only option. Good thing I have 3 pairs, plus a pair of nearly flat boots, and a pair of lilac Converse type shoes. I feel like this week is going to be a real learning experience for me!

If you can't wear heels for some reason, what kind of styles/outfits do you like to wear
