I wrote them down and posted them earlier in the year. One of them was to be pickier about colours and make them more cohesive. I was finding I was looking sallow, often in too much black. I tried picking up more colourful tops but found myself making more and more mistakes. I figured in the long run it would save me money if I knew from the start what truly looked best. I intuitively know for the most part, but being the type A accountant that I am, I wanted it down on paper!! I found my closet was becoming disjointed. I had the "earth tones" section, and the "black" section. Clothes I could wear with a tan, and those I couldn't. It was time to unite! I'd also read the Marie Kondo book in the fall. Truly I realized that many items in my closet didn't spark joy.</p> <p>So, no, no specific reason like a milestone. This is the year of "doing something about it" for me. No wallowing or complaining. For example I wasn't happy with my hair, so I did something about it. Wasn't loving my skin, so did something about it (not exactly, but at least went to a consultation to look at options), wasn't happy with my makeup, so went out and upgraded at Sephora. Life is too short to complain. Yes - I had my hair cut almost a month ago, and so far so good. I have to admit, I've worn my black sleeveless Pleoine blouse with either white jeans, or my white Theory cropped pants 4 times in the past 2 weeks for events. I've felt fab in it, and don't think I could let that go. Really, I'm trying to make my closet more cohesive. I had lots of brights and colours that really weren't doing anything for my face. I purged things where the colours weren't doing a thing for me - stuff where all you could see was the top (or bottom) and not my face, or just a pale sallow face. A great feeling, indeed, to clean things up. Even better, just to wear what I have, and MAKE it work. And guess what, it does! Who cares if I wear the same cardi a few times in the week? I'm the only one who notices.</p> <p>Suz - the teal top is from Aritzia and the white tank is Old Navy. Seriously I have (sorry, had) that Old Navy tank ($20) in white, black, cobalt, and red/burgundy. They usually have it in lots of colours every year. I wear them to death all summer. I am loving the Aritzia tank and might even go back for another colour. Only drawback, depends on what you like, is the side slit is quite deep. I find I prefer to wear a tank underneath b/c don't like to show any middle smush whatsoever in case the tank breezes about. When I collected the find I swear it said it was on sale for $39.99, but then reappeared at $95. Might be on sale.</p> <p>And yes the Trinas are back in rotation with the sunny weather! Yay!</p> <p><div>Denise - my best friend is the lucky owner of the Helmut Lang jacket in 9/10. She looks fantastic in black, so I just gave it to her with a couple of other things. The plum top in 11 is gone, more because of the narrow shoulder fit, but really, it also had a hole in the back so its time had come. The jacket in 12 is in the holding zone....Don't tell Marj but the Pleione tank in 5 came out of the donate bag and I've worn it twice since! I love it too much, and doesn't Marie Kondo say if you love something you can keep it? Yep. The plaid shirt in 8 would go, but it was already relegated to my volunteer-work capsule. I cook in a soup kitchen and need easy, comfy, low maintenance stuff on those days (as in 8).</p> <p>We're going to do a colour analysis next week so I'll keep you posted.
