Though the waist is high (over my belly button) the pants are soft and not snug/tight and just a smidge lower than that 'too high' high waist. In the dim light of winter days and the light and decor of my office, the velvet doesn't look or feel too dressy. After you retire, join some clubs where you can dress up a bit more than the daily casual stuff. Today I wore a velvet top and jeans and ballet flats to a Bible study and felt fine in the outfit. They are warm, and dare I say conventionally flattering with their high (13 in.) waist and full flowey leg. I'm back to wearing the button downs in my closet because they are not my favourites and once I retire I will reach for them even less. I may even purge most of them! The outfit below is kind of dressy, but still works for the office. The top is part of my dressy capsule and has only been worn to work twice. </p> <p>By the way I had a cobbler put extra holes in my belt. The trousers are 2 inches above my belly button and just under my rib cage, so the belt sits at a narrower part of my body than where I usually wear it (9-10 inch rise.)</p> <p>Despite the early morning grumpy face in this pic I really liked this outfit. I felt comfortable and elegant.</p> <p>Thanks for looking! </p>
