L'Abeille, those jeans are so weird. They are called "jeggings" so--never having had narrow legged jeans before (I've always had straight or bootcut) I did not know they were not narrow enough when I bought them.

I put them on the other day and did that old trick of folding to make them narrower before I rolled them (why do I feel like my younger days are coming back to haunt me?)--and then I secured them with a bobby pin because they are quite a thin denim and wouldn't stay. I am glad you mentioned that--now I know for sure I'm on the right track. I am not sure there's much I can do about these, though. Next year, I'll do my darndest to make sure I get properly narrow legs--if that's still the style, of course.

Sharon --thank you! This isn't quite all of it, I don't think. We're missing the white wide legged linen pants and the black and white plaid top (same fabric as the shorts. But essentially, yes, this was it.

I love how well everything goes together. You look great in shorts and I especially love the checked ones.
I agree with L'Abeille that the pants in 2, 3 &4 look a little baggy -the white crops are more flattering with the closer fit.
I don't think any of it needs purging. It's a great capsule.

What a terrific, cohesive wardrobe you have come up with! You could easily use all the pieces next summer.

The only item that gives me pause is the pants in 2, 3 & 4. At that length, I would like to see them be even more tapered, or else commit to width and go even wider, like culottes or palazzos (though the wider might just be my own style preferences talking, and would probably require a different length and different proportions of top, so best forget I mentioned it). Compare with the white crops in 5, though, which are the same length, but the eye is drawn by the cuff and the taper to the slimness of your legs from the knee down.

In other news, I love the plaid shorts as is. Both the length and width. You would lose some of the crispness if you tapered the sides. Part of that is the tartan, though. If your mom duplicates them in a different fabric it could make sense to try tapering more.

I like the length of the skirt just fine. It is flattering on you, both with the proportions of your body and the proportions of the outfit. And the length is fine for summer. For fall/winter you might prefer a longer tube skirt (although beware of the dreaded creep with tights. Always a problem for me in winter because I commute by car and wear a long coat, so lots of friction).

Very helpful, staysfit.

As for smiling, sometimes I pretend I have heard a funny joke and laugh at myself in the mirror. It feels really weird, but it makes a great picture, lol!

"Jazzy" --I love it. I think you have just given me the first of my five adjective words! Thanks.

I haven't looked at anyone else's replies. I like look 1,4, 5, and 6. In look 6, i like the top you paired with the plaid better than in look 8. Nothing particularly wrong with 8, just the others are better. A closer look, maybe I like the v-neck, or lower neckline with a tank. The other tanks had lower necklines. Someone with more experience giving feedback could weigh in here. I like you in the color blue. I also liked the splash of blue in the first tank. I like the soft blue and white blouse paired with the jean jacket. I like the print and fit of the tank in look 1. It fits nicely, and has more visual interest than the other tank tops. The tank top in pic 7 has a nice pattern, but perhaps if you are looking to replace or find better, I think you could handle a slightly bolder print like tank 1. ( I don't know if the right word is bolder or larger, I don't mean brighter). It's a pretty print, but I think it somehow gets lost on you. You have a big smile, and great features, and even though I don't know you I picture something a little more jazzy. ( there's the word!). In look 9, the top may be too sheer? The skirt is nice. You are lucky because you can handle contrast. I like the black and white mixes.

Hope this is helpful! (I still need a lesson on how to smile so nicely when taking pics!)

Thanks avicennia--I don't know what happened with #9. That is my EF tank. It is not exactly see through--but may definitely be too sheer for dark bottoms.

I love that skirt (it has built in shorts) but it is not the most flattering length--and I bought it without sales help--so no one told me about how it would stretch. (It has elastene). It turns out I bought it a size too big.

I like 4, 5 and 6. I agree with Suz, that 9 is not quite right, it's hard to tell from the photo, but I'm wondering if the material is too thin?

Thank you, Suz! I appreciate the positive and the negative immensely. Those shorts were made by my Mom and I was wondering about duplicating them in a different fabric next year, so the suggestion to taper is excellent food for thought.

So funny, #6 is actually one of my old Walmart T-shirts, lol! But I was desperate to wear those shorts and had nothing else in black (except another black Walmart Tee which I am not sure I photographed). Glad you like it.

My favourites here are 1, 4, 5, and 6. I think the silhouette of the first 3 is particularly flattering to you -- with a narrower column on the bottom -- and this is why we've been suggesting tube skirts as a good summer addition. (I know that the white jeans are roomy but with the taper and cuff they still create a similar effect.)

I love the plaid shorts. I wonder if they could be tapered a bit and what effect that might have visually. It might make them harder to wear and/ or not as cool, depending on fabrication. But it is a thought.

Nothing looks unflattering, exactly. But my least favourite is #9. The top is not quite flowy enough and seems a bit too "soft" in colour and weight; the skirt is too wide at the bottom (not tapered), and the outfit seems to lack cohesion somehow. The tee feels a bit too "undershirt" like -- more like a layering piece that you could use under the denim jacket, but not so great on its own.

Those are my thoughts! :)

Hello fabbers!

I have a few more WIW outfits from this summer. (The first part is here.)

I have a small, lovely summer wardrobe. It is mostly black and white--with mostly sleeveless tops--so a similar silhouette over and over. It wasn't intentional--it just happened to be what was in the shops when I decided to upgrade my closet.

Looking for feedback--some of the items will be purged next summer to make room for better--so, comments along those lines more than welcome! In other words, if something looks particularly unflattering, let me know.

FYI: I didn't include any outfits which were repeated, nor any shown in the first thread (linked to above).

I will be doing an evaluation post of my summer wardrobe with highlights of my best and worst, but it might take a while, as I am working a fair bit these days.

Thanks for your help.
