Meredith, good idea! I don't have hi-lo tops, but I do have an asymmetrical one (sides longer). Should see if the centre panel is long enough to cover the crotch.

Shevia, it's actually a lot of fun twisting the living daylights out of them! :-p Sort of like working your day's stress out on a ball of dough, the whole wringing out and curling up of the garment is oddly therapeutic...

Aw, I was going to suggest your new black/tan colorblocked sleeveless top with these pants - but now that I see the knicker predicament, I guess that is out.
http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....things-new

Maybe one day there will be nude knickers in your future and you will be able to try out the shorter tops as well - just to add a little versatility to those awesome pants and hopefully help you reach for them more.

This may be one of my favorite outfits you've posted. To me, it's the Indian equivalent of slouchy... And I love when I can wear things that are crushed, rather than pressed to within an inch of their lives.

Yup. Precisely *just* long enough in the back, Angie! :-)
I actually bought two pairs of these pants a couple of summers ago, thinking they'd be a breeze to live in --- which they are; but they also proved hard to partner. Didn't realize pre-YLF it was a length issue, and not just volume.

Love to see you in traditional dress, and your "fusion" outfits are also terrific. I learn something everyday! Full, lightweight pants have to be far cooler than "skinny jeans" that don't really make us look skinny anyway. And you can sit cross-legged in these!

Angie, yes, they are actually meant to be crushed. In fact, i was taught how to crush and twist them back up after washing to retain the texture.

Shorter top... well, yes and no. These aren't *meant* for shorter I suspect, because the lightweight unlined cotton is somewhat translucent in strong light --- which is good for de-bulking (you can tell my legs aren't tree trunks, just chunky), but not so great for keeping the colour of my knickers private while sitting cross-legged!

This top hits exactly at the crotch point. Would a top that's longer help at all, bypassing the width of my hip? (Assume that's what's annoying here?)

Claire, the gathers do actually start at the waistband, which is further gathered by a drawstring. No yoke there. All three pieces are woven lightweight cotton, the scarf and the pants getting their texture from being crushed and left in a tight twist after every laundering. I was certainly comfy today --- even though I'll confess I keep putting the scarf aside every so often when the heat gets to me, or I get to washing up.

I love those trousers! You did a great job matching the top and scarf as well. It looks like the pants might have a flat front underneath that top. Do they have a yoke, or do the gathers start up at the waistband? Is the top woven? This is a great 'staying at home' outfit. I could get on board with posting some of mine. It's fun to up the style quotient of working at home clothes without going overboard. Then if you need to quickly run out for something, you already look quite decent! This is a perfect example of that; nice work!

Mona, shorter may be possible, but more fitted is not --- this top is actually on the snug side. I'm both squarer and rounder than you realize! :-D

Deborah, 'dork' comes straight from the silver screen to Indian mainstream English users. We get British sitcoms, Hollywood soaps and blockbusters, and even the odd Aussie drama, and do we ever pick up the vocabulary!

The print is actually a small-scale stylized floral, with the green leaves almost blending into the background. Detail shot in bad light below. The registration is slightly off in this portion of the fabric, as you can see --- but it's a hand-blocked printing process, so all is forgiven! (The craftsmen are, sadly, not very well-paid, so insisting on painstaking perfection would be churlish as it slows them down and results in lower output, hence lower income.)

I love it! You look very high fashion here. The pants with their dramatic shape, the tonal shades that are so cozy and cool together, with the exception of the accenting scarf/shawl. Normally I am not a fan of scarves as they clutter things up around the face to my eye. But I love this here. It looks sculptural in this instance. The thong sandals lend a casual vibe; you could also do this look with your shiny bronzey ballet flats for a dressier approach. Or were they sandals? (Trying to recollect your shoe collection.)

Just playing with colour and proportions. Who thinks I look like a dork?

The tunic and pants are not my favourite pieces---I don't reach for them often, even when they're at the top of the pile. Forcing myself to press them into service, with a new bridging piece (I hope!) from April SYB.

Found it hard to get the colours right --- it's somewhere between the two photos really.
