I *so* feel for you - I was on crutches last June for a hip surgery and it definitely put a crimp in my wardrobe choices! Hang in there with your recovery and keep up the great work with the PT, it pays off :)

That J Crew dress is a great find! Maybe get another color or two and go with Angie's suggestion of layering over crops? With denim jackets (white or blue) and scarves you could get some versatile looks. I also love a bright white canvas sneaker, like the Chuck Taylor shorelines, but that might not be enough support for you yet.

Years ago I wore leather Tevas during another summer on crutches (this time a broken foot) and was grateful for the stability. These days they have lots more options that (IME) are increasingly fashionable.
http://www.zappos.com/p/teva-t.....4/color/19

Sorry to hear about your broken leg. I hope you don't have too many pains.
How wise of you to use sensible shoes, and these even look fab. You look really good in #4 - the knot is an excellent idea.

If it is hot and you would like to look more dressed than in shorts, then how about an easy black&white graphic summer dress, sleeveless or with short sleeves? (Something like a long T-shirt or singlet) If you need a topper, I suggest a big, long white shirt. In this combo you would be dressed for nearly any occasion.

You look great in the shoes with this outfit. You could add a casual cotton scarf with the black and white of your shoes, or a black moto jacket.

I think you look terrific here - support and comfort is by far the main thing.

I think jeans, denim shorts or any shorts, knee length or shorter dresses and cropped pants will all work.

I agree that the dress looks fab knotted. It is a useful dress overall. Sorry about your broken leg. No advice on shoes except that practical footwear is popular now. I'm at Cape Hatteras where few people wear shoes.

Here are the considerations for today's outfit:
1) Even though after two months I'm kind of sick of them, I prefer to wear these black and white Reebok Crossfit Nano 2.0s as long as I'm still shaky on my feet, whether I'm limping along or using one crutch. (Broke my right femur two months ago--had titanium hardware installed in my thigh.) I got these shoes for weight-lifting, so they're ideal for stability.

2) The weather is very warm, but air-conditioned interiors can be chilly.

3) I was meeting a friend for lunch, but immediately after that I had to go to physical therapy, where I'm doing all sorts of exercises and having my leg stretched back behind me while lying on my side on a table.

So I put on a J. Crew tank dress in a modal/polyester blend--seen in photo one. Then I realized I had to wear athletic shorts underneath because of physical therapy--in the second photo you might see a bit of a bulge. I took a sweater just in case--photo three. When I got to physical therapy, I thought it would be easier if my therapist didn't worry about exposure, so I just reached down and tied my dress up into a tank top--photo four. By the way, this dress does not wrinkle--all of these photos are after I wore it tied in a knot for an hour.

Any fashion tips for styling these athletic shoes would be appreciated. I may start to alternate them with some very stable Teva-like sandals, but I'm probably not branching out further than that for a few weeks. I guess I need to go athleisure.
