Both skirt outfits look terrific! Some jeans are cut so the waist it the smallest and everything is proportioned in relation to that. Well it doesn't work that way for me and not for you I guess Amy. I like your pink sandals btw!

I love looks 1,3 &4, with #3 being my favorite. While you may not feel comfortable with the top, I think its very flattering on you. I'm not sure what is off with look #5, but I agree its not quite right.

Too bad about #3. I quite like it.

I have developed a poison eye for "properly fitting tops." My fear, my being so trendy, is that I will give them all away and have nothing to wear when the mood for them returns...

Thanks Angie - and yes, I find that weddings in my circles (probably some of that is location) are definitely casual. Most people don't wear denim, but I was dressed just about the same level of dressy-ness as the rest of the people. I have a lot of weddings to attend this summer, so I'll be wearing skirts more.
I'm glad you liked #5 - the proportions don't seem off to you?

How fun to see you in skirts, Amy. WOW.

Hi Ami!

Loving #1 -- wear this again! #3 is fab, too. #5 is fun glam boho.

I agree that the jeans are just to big in #2, but I think the top in 4 is just a classic fit -- what about trying it over a skirt?

The more I think about it, the more I think you could use a dark, slightly sporty skirt. (Not a skort --- the mullet of clothing pieces, or a running skirt).

Thank you all!

The jeans in #2 fit in the waist, which makes me think they're for a much curvier body than mine. Most likely they won't make it through the next purge even as grub jeans, haha!

And Aubergine, that's exactly my sentiment on my striped top - I really really hope that just my eye has changed, and not my girth (at least not much). These fluid fits seem to make it easy to grow without really noticing that it's going on. That might be why I like them so much....

I feel the same way about a couple of my tops from last summer Amy - suddenly they don't feel like they're fluid enough.

I think outfit #1 is absolutely fabulous on you and I really like #3 as well. I think the jeans in #2 are great for grub jeans but I'm wondering if there's just too much volume on the thigh area? They look quite wide there. And I like the midi with your Birks - personally I would leave off the belt and leave the outfit a bit more simple.

I'm with you on tops I liked before feeling too small. I'm not sure how much of that is my eye adjusting rather than me getting bigger, but I really hope it's more the former. I do think the striped shirt doesn't look bad on you at all, though.

Love #1! Also like the shirt in #3 -- that's a shame about the pilling. The outfit with the midi skirt looks good to me. The only thing I can think of is maybe a lighter or more delicate shoe.

I really like #1 and #3. It is a shame the top in #3 is pilling, because I think it is a really fresh, bright outfit. I think the jeans in #2 are too big around your hips - I agree with T as to fit. I'm loving your hair at the moment!

#1 is great, but I do have a poison eye for Birkies with skirts.

I do think the jeans in #2 seem too big all around. I like the way the pants in #3 & 4 have a good slouchy fit.

The top in 4 is cute and I think you should hold onto it a bit longer until you are happier with the fit.

Really like the top and skirt in 5. Your hair and lipstick look great too!

I also agree that #1 is fantastic - I love the skirt on you :)

#2 - I agree with you on the jeans; you have much more fantastic stuff then them you could be wearing. But then again, I don't really get the "boyfriend" trend anyway.

#3 - Pillage is a thing that drives me bonkers and means donate!

#4 - I think probation is a good idea for this top Do you ever use it to wear with skirts? They generally go better with tighter tops.

#5 - Love midi's.

I agree, #1 is great! Good job!

The jeans seem to look big all over rather than boyfriend. I'm no expert, but I think you want less fabric around your hips, and maybe a bit more taper to the legs.

Don't you hate it when a good top pills?

The striped top is cute. Maybe you could use it as a layering piece? Under a relaxed blazer or utility jacket, or a denim shirt or jacket.

I love the color of your church skirt. Putting black with it, this time of year, might feel too heavy. I would try it with another color--white, taupe, gray, a shade of blue--that might help!

I agree that posting a variety of attempts really helps work things out! Yay!

My happiness factor with my outfits was rather low this week, resulting in several shirts (only one of which are actually pictured) moving to "probation". I really prefer my fits more fluid than ever, and tops that I thought were great last year now feel too small.
But in the spirit of keeping it real, and because I took outfit pics, I figure I may as well share them.

#1 Worn to a wedding (and featuring my new black sandals!). This is the only one I was mildly happy with. I like the strong color, and felt appropriate.
#2 Worn to a farm. I bought these jeans thinking they were terrific baggy boyfriend jeans (they're even recent - only about a season old, from Goodwill). But on me they look frumpy and huge. I'm not sure if I'm wearing them wrong, or if I'm not used to the way they look (but they're supposed to look that way), or if they just don't 'get' my body. Anyway, they're currently 'grub' jeans, and I think they're likely to stay in that category unless I learn to wear them or style them differently.
#3 This was okay - about my fourth shirt of the day, but this top, even though I like the colors, is starting to pill, and probably won't be staying around much longer.
#4 I wore this all day, even though the top is too tight for my current preferences. It's well made and in terrific shape, so I think I'm going to keep it in a box to see if either the shape returns to favor, or I get smaller.
#5 worn to church. I was trying out a midi-skirt idea by belting it and wearing it with a cropped sweater and my new-to-me black birks. But something seems off about it. I'm not sure what. Thoughts?

All feedback and comments are welcome
