lisap: You can definitely throw in that observation. And I appreciate this comment. My weight fluctuates. And I'm at a higher weight but my lower weight is probably not sustainable. I need to strike a middle-ground. I started swimming since January -- and am hoping with that new routine and some changes in diet -- I can settle into a comfortable weight. This may or may not work over the long haul based on a history of fits and starts. But if I am able to land on a reasonable weight for a longer period of time, I can definitely see how clothes could help maintain that weight. But admittedly this is a bit scary for me. You've definitely hit on one of my issues. Sadly.

Can I throw another personal observation into this convo? I find getting dressed every day (i.e. not in knits, ponte things and other loose fitting comfy stuff) keeps me accountable and honest. It's too easy for 5 lbs- 10 lbs to creep on over a few months of not paying attention -and I don't notice because my clothes still feel comfy and I'm not wearing fitted jeans, skirts, pants etc . Never going to make that mistake again

Oh Aida, you've said all the right things! This is making me feel so much better. I think you've thrown out a challenge that I need to consider the next time I wear this. And maybe just be thinking about how I can amp up a similar look to have it work both ways (cozy and then styled for something more deliberately dressed up). And the fact that you say Easy Peasy...that just makes it all feel very doable. A BIG thank you. This is literally just what I needed to hear.

A great work-from-home outfit! And can be dressed up quickly if you need to pop out: dressy shoes (pumps, sandals, booties), jacket of choice, and some jewelry if you want to. Easy peasy.

(I can't work in slippers, my feet get too hot! But then too cold without, boo.)

E: They feel pretty fun. Thanks! And thanks for sharing your at home styling habits. I think I'm a bit wrapped around the axel thinking about this but at least I'm putting the effort into understand what might work for me. I've been feeling like I needed a change. And silk must feel wonderful! And we are definitely on the same page with a good slipper!

carter: Black ninja is right. That's funny and very observant. That makes me want to wear this to garden even more. I could be very dangerous with weeds! After looking at this, I definitely want to consider some styling. But it was fun to just wear something different today!

In my crazy job, I can plan on a work at home day and end up with clients all day. I'm always 10 minutes from being out the door so I can do a "we're sitting outside your listing" showing before they drive away:-). For me, that means shower, hair, and make-up always done. Unless I'm planning to be with clients, I almost always start my day in a decently pulled together jeans/casual outfit. If I'm home when I get a call, I'll change into work clothes. But if I'm out running errands, at least I can head straight to the showing without embarrassing myself or my client.

I think you look adorable in your black ninja outfit!

Very fun!

I spend most of my time at home, so I opt to wear regular clothes instead of loungewear, because otherwise I'd never be in regular clothes! I dress for comfort though, so pretty much all of my clothes are armchair-suitable. lol (No pencil skirts or shift dresses for me!) The only major difference is that I never wear a bra at home, but I add one when I go out (or take outfit photos! lol) if casual observers would notice my braless state.

I also have a silk addiction, and very few fancy occasions, so I wear silk on 'just' at-home days too. It feels like such an indulgence: even my pj capsule includes several thrifted silk camis. A nice easy way to treat myself to something nice. Oh and I treated myself to $80 LL Bean Wicked Good slippers: they're wonderful & their cost per wear is pennies, as I wear them so much! I think if you spend a lot of time at home, it makes sense to put more time & money & thought into creating just the right capsule for you.

Transcona Shannon: Well you are so stylish so if this works for you on the weekend, it should surely work for me. Thanks!

lisap: Thanks for the link. You have me thinking. I need some comfy outfits. I'd even wear this outfit to do some gardening. Again, lots to think about it when it comes to dressing while in the home. Thank you!

Tanya: Good suggestion. And yes, I'll need to play around with styling. Thank you.

Gennifyr: Thank you. And I am definitely contemplating just how dress up I need to be. While maintaining some comfort. And you make a good distinction, just what days will I actually go outside of the house and how do I want to dress for those days.

AviaMariah: Thanks. And I'd love to see a post from you and your black/black harem outfit!

You look fashionably comfortable.

I work from home and because I'm rural I rarely get out. Most of the time I dress up. It helps keep me awake! If I'm making soap I dress down because lye stains.

http://www.allure.com/beauty-t.....-home.html

Great timing:) Just last night I tore out this article (yes, I'm old school that way) from the March Allure (and yes I am a month behind on my reading) . Some of it is restating the obvious, but I am particularly interested at the moment in figuring out a better scheduling system for my job, so that part of the article I wanted to use as a starting point .

Yes, I work from home, but rarely spend the entire day in my office. Having the attention span of a 2 year old, I often leap up and head out to investigate a new store, drop in on a buyer, or some other thing that involves connecting with other people. I get bored a little too easily.

Anyways, in terms of dressing - I absolutely subscribe to the practice of dressing for work regardless of whether I'm heading out anywhere that day. I'm not in pencil skirts and pumps or anything, but I almost never sit in my office in sweats . And when I do, they are new /newish ones, styled up , and I have makeup on. I just feel more committed to the work day when I'm dressed. I know millions of people don't do it, but I've found it makes me feel like the professional I am always trying to be.

In fact, right now, I'm wearing Vince pants, a new VC pullover, a pendant necklace (yay 70's) , am fully made up and ready to roll. (barefoot though - lol) . This makes transitioning to personal time more noticeable too - I'll change into my casual stuff around 5 ish and start my own day.
(I usually hit the gym in the mornings, so get dressed after that. )

I'm deeply contemplating my realities of working from home, a gym swim, the need for comfort, and some "styling fun." It also appears that I will be embracing my love of black for spring. I've never owned harem pants before but they seemed to fit the bill for some experimentation.

My goal for spring/summer is to find interesting cuts and lines in less expensive items and play with cozy, casual -- and hopefully add a little chic from time to time.

Comments and thoughts welcomed! And I'd love to hear from other work from home fabbers on a uniform or just dressing in general.
